Anyone compared the RS2x to GH2/4?

Whatever you plug it into, it won’t have a fat bottom end. There is no chance for that. It’s strengths lie elsewhere.

I need to let one of my Grados go and was thinking The White, but after listening more I think I might rather part with my PS500e instead. I already have headphones that do similar things, but The White is pretty unique.

You are spot on! It’s definitely not a one and only headphone. It’s just a very different flavor if you already have your bases covered.

That’s a great collection of wood! 🙂👍 The White needs time. I run mine out of a neutral solid state and there’s no sharpness at all. It’s bright and detailed, yet very musical.

Ok, so my RS-1 button’s driver is dead. The voice coil has detached from the diaphragm. I have two options: switch both drivers to new x-series drivers or look for a 1st gen driver to install in place of the dead driver. What do you think? Does anyone have experience with old RS-1 with new drivers?

You are right @plakat. These are really similar. From what I hear, the GH2 is slightly “faster” (attack, transients, decay) and the GH4 seems a touch more warmer with fuller bass. Is seems to me that the midrange is a touch more forward in the GH4, too. It’s probably due to different wood types...

@zerolight can you share your thoughts about GH2 in comparison to RS2x? What did you prefer in the latter?

These are 19 year old RS-1 buttons. Shipping from Europe and back would add taxes and Grado would most likely replace the drivers for some newer ones which would basically mean I would get different headphones back.

I would just replace the whole headband. The recommended ones are Turbulent Labs or Nyczaj, although I didn’t try any of them.
