At this price point it all comes down to personal preference. I don't think you can go wrong with either one and I enjoy both the Elite and Caldera. If you have the disposable income no harm in owning both. I will admit I am a ZMF convert/fanboy these days as I own 5 different models.

Yeah, it was the different degrees of muddy on each impedance setting. Even switched between RCA and XLR inputs from the Spring 3 to see if that made a difference. I'm about to switch mesh on the headphone to see if that makes a difference.

I'm in the same boat. I've spent too much money on headphones and related gear the last few months. I'll be checking out the Aegis at CanJam before I make a final decision on it. If I get it I'll be selling my HA-300MKII and all the tubes.

No, on the pull down on the pads when you order a CC the options are top perf only. Not sure if you buy them individually if they are listed under the Caldera brand of pads. They could be listed under the Bokeh pads. I think you need to ask Zach about that one.

Tried out the Cadera Hybrid top Perf only that came with my CC. I like this pad on the AC over my Caldera suede that's been my default on the AC. Improved sense of isolation, and tighter bass response. I'll report in more as I try the other CC pads. Trying out the CC pads in-between...
