Receiver... or no receiver? (w/ ATH-AD700s)
Not really interested in an amp right now... I really just want to know whether I would get better performance out of my receiver, or straight out of my sound card.- TrevorCook

Receiver... or no receiver? (w/ ATH-AD700s)
Well, the question is really whether or not the receiver that I have would improve quality. Can anyone give me a solid answer on this?- TrevorCook

Receiver... or no receiver? (w/ ATH-AD700s)
Hmmm... What kind of difference would it make? (if any) Would the receiver just amp the signal? Is distortion possible? Thanks!- TrevorCook

Receiver... or no receiver? (w/ ATH-AD700s)
I ordered a pair of ATH-AD700s and they should be in tomorrow. My current rig is an AV710 rear out to an old JVC receiver to some pretty nice Infinity's. So, when my ATH-AD700s come in, should I plug them directly into the AV710? or into the receiver...? (receiver is an RX-6000V) Thanks...- TrevorCook

Best under $80?
Hm. Well, if I'm trying to get the best out of my music, do I really want a completely neutral sound? I would prefer my music to sound good rather than perfect. If that makes any sense... That in consideration, what mentioned in post 24, (+ the eH350s and the RP-21s) would do that best...- TrevorCook

Hmmm... The eH350s, eh? In your opinion, what makes them better than the ones I mentioned?- TrevorCook

Best under $80?
Vary varied taste in music. Not usually any death metal or hardcore though. Definitely looking at the MS-1s, ATH-A500s, and the K-81s. Any recommendations within those? Others? thanks! PS, After further reading... I guess I could bump it up to $100.- TrevorCook

Best under $80?
Quality and sound are my ONLY requirements. <<<Short List>>> *MS-1 *ATH-AD700 *eH350 *K-81 *RP-21 (and getting longer...) Those are in order of interest at the moment. (and yes, the price requirement has slackened a bit...) EDIT: I ordered the ATH-AD700s last night...- TrevorCook

Chaintech AV-710 to Receiver
So, got a new AV-710 card, but I'm having some trouble getting the optical out configured. I actually have two cards in two machines going to two receivers , but I havn't gotten either of them to work. I definitely have a signal going out of the card, but receiver to speakers is the problem...- TrevorCook
