LAiV Harmony R2R DAC Impression and Reviews
What is it about your current chain you hope the LAIV DAC will improve? I have one on order and have been looking at a DSHA-3FN for my OG Utopia when available from Nitsch later this summer. Any insight you have on strengths/weaknesses of this chain would be much appreciated.- DarthVaderKamp

Any update on how you like this with the DSHA-3FN and OG Utopia? That happens to be the exact same chain I am looking at.- DarthVaderKamp

Why do we care if a twenty-something can hear above 20 kHz? Do we need proof of everything to accept anything?- DarthVaderKamp

Cayin RU7: 1-Bit Resistor Network Dongle DAC /Amp
I went looking for this in the thread and the only thing from Andy I could find was this: if you are listening to anything that is NOT 1-bit, regardless of whether the material is stored in your local TF card or you are streaming via your subscribed service, it must be converted to DSD This...- DarthVaderKamp

Cayin RU7: 1-Bit Resistor Network Dongle DAC /Amp
Thanks. I’m just wondering if anyone can help me understand what resampling means in this context. Is it actually converting to some intermediate state and then recreating the DSD stream? Is there an audible change made in the digital domain before the final conversion to analog?- DarthVaderKamp

Cayin RU7: 1-Bit Resistor Network Dongle DAC /Amp
Is there any processing done on a native DSD256 input by the audio bridge when in DSD256 mode or is it effectively a straight pass through to the 1-bit DAC? I am an HQPlayer user and would like to do all the DSD processing in my PC.- DarthVaderKamp

Cayin RU7: 1-Bit Resistor Network Dongle DAC /Amp
Has anyone used HQPlayer to do the DSD upsampling/SDM for the RU7? I’m curious how much improvement can be achieved by offloading the PCM conversion to DSD.- DarthVaderKamp

Cayin RU7: 1-Bit Resistor Network Dongle DAC /Amp
I find the product very interesting but not for the typical phone/mobile use case. I run Roon and HQPlayer on Ubuntu for my work PC and would like to know if I can directly drive native DSD256 to the RU7 from that setup? I don’t see Linux support indicated for the RU7 but my RU6 works for the...- DarthVaderKamp

An exploration of Chord DAVE, MScaler, Qutest, and Holo May, HQPlayer
For anyone on a tight budget, this can also be done with a humble Raspberry Pi 4. I just installed RoPieee XL which provides both NAA and Roon endpoint support. It’s a bit of DIY and you probably need to have a Pi 4 on hand (due to crazy supply constraints) but it’s dirt cheap. To further reduce...- DarthVaderKamp

An exploration of Chord DAVE, MScaler, Qutest, and Holo May, HQPlayer
Awesome review. As someone with a modest budget, I was particularly struck by this “teaser”. Are there any specific low/medium-cost DACs you find benefit most from a native DSD stream? Have you drawn any conclusions regarding specific DAC chips which best support DSD natively through either...- DarthVaderKamp
