    Monoprice Monolith AMT Headphones

I am somewhat interested in your mod. Could you explain the process of getting at the resonant spaces surrounding the drive unit, and the exact material you used to fill these spaces? It looks like glass wool insulation, which might have the disadsvantage of shedding a lot of particles that...

    Senn HD800 Ultimate, "Maxx" Mod

It might be of interest here that I have enjoyably used a (perhaps similarly) modded HD800 for several years. This mod has been offered for quite a while by a company called Stefan Audio Arts. They call it their HD800 ultra-mod, (...

USB Audio Player PRO (UAPP): 24- and 32-bit playback, ubiquitous USB audio support for Android

An apparent problem with bit perfect mode. Of course bit perfect is automatically disabled when I use my Toneboosters PEQ. If I turn PEQ off and select "enable bit perfect if possible" it should automatically enable bit perfect, and consequently sound better, right? Well, in that condition it...

HEDD Announces HEDDphone With AMT Technology

I agree about the natural quality of the treble performance of the HEDDphone 2. But as an audiophile I find it subjectively lacks some of the treble definition or resolution apparently offered by some other headphones such as the HD800S and HE1000se. On further analysis it turns out that this...

    Monoprice Monolith AMT Headphones

Not surprised. I think the Monoprice AMT is by far the best bargain in high end audio. In my system with EQ they have bested a number of high-reputationed high end headphones including the Sennheiser HD800S, Dan Clark Expanse, HEDDphone 2, HE1000se, and Gold Planar GL-2000.

HEDD Announces HEDDphone With AMT Technology

I would agree except for one major caviat: headphones, music sources, DACs, headphone amplifiers and cables however expensive, aren't perfect. Typical colorations in these equipment are slight digital edginess or rounded-off lack of precise transient reproduction, or slight boosts in the upper...

    New Astell&Kern CA1000T impressions thread.

Some user comparisons I have gleaned from various forums and blogs. My general impression is that the CA1000T is superb and only a little better resolution wise than the SP3000, with the CA1000T being considerably better overall due to advanced features like much more power to drive low...

    New Astell&Kern CA1000T impressions thread.

I am interested in the A&K ACRO CA1000T, but I have one issue that looks to be a problem. I presently am using a music source consisting of a Galaxy S4 tablet containing over 200 GB of WAV and FLAC music files contained in the USB Audio Player Pro (UAPP) app. This android app interfaces via USB...

HEDD Announces HEDDphone With AMT Technology

I have had good results with the Sparkos Labs Aries. Just a word of negativity in this compilation: I found that a very excellent DAP (A & K Kann Cube) had quite insufficient power. This may be an indicator of a general problem with Digital Audio Players.

USB Audio Player PRO (UAPP): 24- and 32-bit playback, ubiquitous USB audio support for Android

Will there be any performance improvement (especially with the Toneboosters EQ) if the UAPP files and music files are transferred from an old Samsung Galaxy Tab S4 to run on a new Galaxy Tab S9? The new S9 processor is 3 1/2 times faster than the S4 and uses a new version of the Android...

Comment by 'dmagnan' in item 'Sineaptic SE-1'

Thanks for the information. There is still an issue that there doesn't seem to be any information on. What exactly is the format of the connectors required for the drive signal cable? I mean, does the cable have a single 3.5mm TRS stereo plug at its output, with a single 3.5mm TRS stereo plug...

Comment by 'dmagnan' in item 'Sineaptic SE-1'

Perhaps I missed something, but these reviews didn't clarify how the wireless headphones are to be driven. Is the built-in Class D amplifier bypassed when the cans are used in wired mode using a conventional headphone amplifier, the diaphragms being driven directly by the outside amplifier with...

I may have missed it in this thread , but I am interested in how the HEDDphone 2 compares sonically to the HEDDphone 1.

HEDD Announces HEDDphone With AMT Technology

I just got a pair of the HEDDphone 2s, and can report some initial positive reactions. I immediately liked them a lot. My previous favorite headphone has been the Monoprice AMT (equalized), but this new HEDDphone beats it by quite a bit (as it should considering the price difference). The...

HEDD Announces HEDDphone With AMT Technology

I'm presently using the Monoprice AMT. I really like the sound of this air motion transformer headphone. I'm just looking for something even better using the same type of technology.

HEDD Announces HEDDphone With AMT Technology

I am considering buying a HEDDphone 2, but encountered one fairly positive review ( https://headphones.com/blogs/reviews/heddphone-two-review-ive-never-been-so-excited-for-a-headphone ) that complains about a certain overbrightness and hashy quality at the top end. Has anyone here encountered that ?

    Monoprice Monolith AMT Headphones

I've still not found anything. However, I did find an interesting very positive review of the HEDDPhone 2 on Headphone.com. This is at https://headphones.com/blogs/reviews/heddphone-two-review-ive-never-been-so-excited-for-a-headphone . This review was very positive with the major exception of...

    Monoprice Monolith AMT Headphones

Are there any reviews that directly compare the sonics of the Monoprice AMT with the HEDDphone 2? It seems to me the HEDDphone needs to be very significantly sonically superior to the AMT to be able to justify the high $1999 cost. A little more comfort due to the lighter weight I don't think...

    Monoprice Monolith AMT Headphones

I would think that since the Gold Planar 850 is a different physical design and product than the Monoprice AMT, it is likely the frequency response curve is also somewhat different. (?)

    Monoprice Monolith AMT Headphones

I like your change of the midrange bell filter to a Q of 0.81, frequency of 2.6kHz and gain of 7 dB. I prefer to stay with the high shelf filter at 5 kHz. Since my original post I've changed the bass PEQ to add an additional low shelf filter at 38 Hz, gain of 2.5 dB and Q of 0.81. A little more...

    SparkoS Aries headphone amp

Thanks for the impressions. What would be most important to me is how it compares to the Aries (which I have). ? The Gemini's rated relatively high distortion levels due to the tube give me pause, but of course I know that a little 2nd harmonic can greatly "sweeten" the sound euphonically and...

Three relatively broad parametric filter sections: +6 dB low shelf filter at 70 Hz, Q of 0.84 +6 dB bell filter at 2800 Hz, Q of 0.84 +3 dB high shelf filter at 5000 Hz, Q of 0.81
