Oh, interesting. Maybe my 3 flange are so old the material just softened up with all the ear wax they've come in contact with, hah.

That is unfortunate to hear. I wonder what's going on at etymotic.com? The large clear are the only ones I like specifically due to the soft material they use. They feel much more comfortable in my ears than the harder material in the 2 flange tips. I also feel that they seal better. I'm waiting...

Ah, that's what I suspected. Thanks so much for the quick reply. I can't believe this would be a direct replacement product if the stem is so different. I really enjoy the sound signature and detail of my ER4XR and don't want it changed in any way. Thanks for looking into this for me!

Just had a very disappointing experience with ordering eartips from Etymotics website. I finally bit the bullet, I have been using and enjoying my ER4XR with the large clear triple flange tips for about 1 year now. Out of all the tips I've tried (2 flange, foam, frosted of various sizes) these...

I enjoy my ER4XR with the following EQ tweak. A subtle boost to the highs and lows. But even flat these sound great. The EQ turns it into a little more "fun" sound for listening, but I also use these flat for monitoring my guitar playing and mixing. I love the detail in these headphones, haven't...

Is there anywhere I can buy the official Etymotic triple flange clear tips? After trying the other ones in my kit these are the ones I prefer. So far I've only found them on Etymotic's site but the shipping is insane to Canada. Is there an Amazon or Ebay or some other site that sells them? I...

I'll preface this story by saying I don't have a ton of experience with high end over the ear headphones. I purchased the ER4XR after extensive online research as my first set of "high quality" headphones, and I needed them to be in-ear. However, I've always wondered how a good set of over the...

Give them a day or 2 before you give up. My first impression of the fit was similar. I thought they wouldn't work for me. By day 2 I got used to them and now love them. Also there's probably some stress on your ear from trying the different tips. I prefer the standard clear triple flange.

This is interesting! Is there any chance I could see a picture of how that fits over your ear? I'd love to wear my ER4XR in over-ear configuration, as I use them for performing live as well. My concern is the way I have to push them into my ear canal currently, the barrel tends to angle sharply...

I'm going to try cleaning/checking these tips (again) as well as try another set of tips. I can't visibly see any wax but it could still be there, that would be the most logical explanation. Thanks for the suggestions. I've been using the ER4XR a lot lately and really enjoying the sound but...

I don't know if its my imagination but lately I've noticed my ER4XR seem to have less high end than they used to. I'm still using the initial 3 flange tip that are on by default. I tried changing the filter on the right side, but didn't notice a difference. I wonder if I should try new tips...

I'm looking for an inexpensive USB C dongle to use with my ER4XR and my Pixel 6 phone. Would the apple dongle do the job or is there a better "bang for buck" dongle? Any recommendations sub $100?

I think I know what takeitblue means by warm. I find there is less "shrill" highs on the ER4XR than some other more V-shaped heaphones. But there is no mud on the bottom. The more rounded highs can make for a warm but still clear sound.

After spending a bit more time with my ER4XR, I'm enjoying them quite well. Had my first experience using them while mowing my lawn yesterday, and wow, this is the first time I could listen to music and actually enjoy it with a loud mower next to me. The amount of sound isolation is amazing, and...

Yes I did. I think I slightly prefer the rubber flanges right now. One issue I had is the foam gets separated from the plastic/rubber inner ring and then I end up jabbing my inner ear with the small point when inserting them.

Hah, I would believe that. After trying them out the first day I was honestly unsure how I'd continue on. My brain was all "yes, sounds good" but my ears were "nooo, don't put those in there so deep!" lol. My ears were aching the first day. Thankfully, your ears do get used to it, if you give it...

Thanks, I'll check them out. I'm trying to avoid foam as in my previous experience they get very gross and dirty fast, and lose their shape. But I'm willing to give foam a try again. I admit they tend to sound the best in my experience, but I hate how short their life span is compared to rubber...

Are there any musicians using these for IEM live or practice use? I bought the ER4XR last week as an upgrade from CCA C12's I was using. My goal was to hear a better representation of my guitar for practicing at home, as I'm playing through headphones 100% of the time there, with no luxury of...
