Chord Mojo 2 Thread ___ [product released January 31, 2022 -- starting on page 95 of thread]
Poly and SD card is the best sounding option. No cables, no noise, all on battery, nothing travelling through your phone. I don’t think it’s possible for a USB connection to sound as hood.- AussieMick

Hugo TT 2 by Chord Electronics - The Official Thread
Blind testing streamers is okay, but how the thing looks and feels to touch is important to me, and the quality of the app even more so. It’s a thing I interact with and I want to feel good looking at it. I’d happily trade the last ounce of sound (which will probably be forgotten two weeks after...- AussieMick

Extra warmth and intimacy that HD800? Sounds like the Utopia 2022 to me. It is excellent from the TT2. I can back up the feelings about Susvara, too, that the TT2 isn’t enough. For me, Utopia 2022 from my TT2, Pass Labs XA25 for Susvara.- AussieMick

DCA Aeon and Focal Radiance (if you can find one). The DCA and Mojo2 just seem to click together, and the Radiance is a much more dynamic listen. However, Radiance is also a headphone that can get a bit too bass heavy, but of course is easily tamed with the Mojo2 EQ.- AussieMick

Agreed. My Innuos Zen Mk3 was out of action for three weeks so I put a MacBook Air in as source, which resulted in me listening to far less music. Digital sources matter- AussieMick

Headphone Amp Sennheiser HD6xx
You’ve hit the nail on the head. A good amp will be lower noise, have better control especially in the bass, have a more open and specific stage, and give you better dynamic contrast. All of that regardless of volume. As for a DAC, yes a good one will elevate your listening in much the sane...- AussieMick

HiFiMan Susvara
The Focal Utopia III speakers have only seen incremental change since their release in 2010, largely because they arrived at a point of an incredibly high quality expression of what they were aiming for. It’s the Focal way and has been for a long time. It was completely predictable that the 2022...- AussieMick

Chord Mojo 2 Thread ___ [product released January 31, 2022 -- starting on page 95 of thread]
hi all I’m returning to Mojo2/Poly after an absence of a year. The plan is to use Focsl Radiance in bed, but the warmer weather requires an IEM. Anyone here have experience with both the IE600 and IE900? I’m interested to know if a) the 900 carries more texture in the bass and detail in general...- AussieMick

A popular DAC, for sure. The thing is, if you’re not really certain what kind of sound you’re after, most of the high quality DACs can be wonderful. Maybe it’s only when you develop a particular preference that different brands and models become more important to check out? I’ve settled on...- AussieMick

Two cables , same wire , different connectors , diff sound? ( Yup)
100% connectors matter, as do the joins from wire to connector. More or less solder, different materials…enjoy the journey! -

HiFiMan Susvara
Susvara is a wonderful example of why “spend half your budget on the headphones” is an ideology that doesn’t work that well a lot of the time. Budget headphones and IEMs are so far and away better than they were 10 years ago that they can resolve improvements in amplification and DAC that were...- AussieMick

CHORD ELECTRONICS DAVE
An Aston Martin loving friend bought one from a high end used dealer. Something about it being in Bond films. He drives it once or twice a month for about four hours at a time. He understands why I’d spend big on hifi, and notices it’s in use a few hours every day and five or six hours on...- AussieMick

Focal Utopia General Discussion
Up until three weeks ago my speakers of choice have been the Focal Kanta 2. Here in Australia we’ve been fortunate of late to have access to some rather amazing deals on all things Focal, so I took the plunge and bought a pair of Diablo Utopia and matching stands. I always enjoyed the Kanta 2...- AussieMick

My point is just that a lot of criticism is thrown around that is based on anecdote and rumour and hearsay. Unless someone can provide proof of systemic shilling and dishonesty, it’s all just cynical fluff. Check out Darko’s podcast with Lavorgna on “why no bad reviews?” I don’t agree with...- AussieMick

Do you think he has access to every headphone amplifier, at all times? I don’t. Do you think it’s intellectually honest to compare what you have in front of you to a memory from a year ago or more? Yes, but you don’t what “I’ve heard” means. He’s clearly not heard ever headphone amplifier on earth, and he’s not a full time headphone reviewer. I don’t see the problem. And, indeed, depending on circumstances it might be the best option for a certain individual out there on a...- AussieMick

In fairness, he does point out its shortcomings and places it in the context of other high end headphones, and explains that the Utopia isbt for everyone. It’s not a sycophantic praise-fest. And, of course, when you get to pick and choose everything you review, why would you ever choose...- AussieMick

I take a slightly different attitude to the great spectrum that runs between total objectivism (not achievable) and total subjectivism (also not achievable). If anything pops up that piques my interest I look into it. If it’s not for me, I ignore it. There’s more music in the world than any of...- AussieMick
