I just placed an order this afternoon too. It will be my first desktop DAC. 

It's a class A amp so the battery not so great. I always plug it while using at work. There is a 2016 version which fixed the unbalanced sound at low volume.

I could compare only with HD600. To me, as a beginner, HD600 provides dark and warmer tone while HE-560 is much brighter. Something like snare drums came up totally different. Sometimes too bright to my taste. However, my HE-560 has just passed 20-30 hrs so it's hard to tell at this point.

Have you tried to contact Sennheiser? Mine is rev.02 purchased in 03/2016 and never had the problem. I use with Saturn Pro.
