I am listening to some Hans Zimmer tracks while playing this through the Ferrum Wandla > Feliks Audio Euphoria tube amp with the mixing pads. It gives back a bit of bass that the producing pads have, with extra clarity, more separation in instruments with additional soundstage.

I tried the cowhide ones and it was a NO for me. It sounded hallow and thin. I don't think the default Caldera pads will work either, but have not tried them yet

Well... you will probably have more volume to use with using it as a preamp than say using a headphone. In that case I would unplug a headphone.

Both the preamp and headphone out are active outputs. Best though to unplug your headphones if using the preamp out so you don't maybe damage them.
