Anyone try pad swapping the Tungsten with other Zmf pads? I’ve put Zmf universe lamb skin perf pads on and am enjoying them.

I can confirm that the Violectric V222 powers the tungsten SS quite well. I’m feeding it with Schiit Gumby from the balanced out 4v.

I’m curious if you remember the clamp force? My SS had less bass when the clamp was too tight. I understand it’s the opposite on DS. On that the bass gets less with less clamp.

Agree 100%. Just look at the wait times for Decware amps. Try ordering the Decware Zen UFO amp. I think it’s a 3 year minimum wait time.

Received my SS Tungsten this morning. Impressions to come.

Closer to 6 months.

I have the k9 pro ess and the a70 pro and to me the a70 is quite a bit better than the k9 pro as an amp. However, the k9 pro is a great DAC and works well fed into the a70 pro. The a70 has a blacker background and there’s more bass weight in its presentation.

I have not. I have compared them to the dekoni velour pads. The ZMF pads are much deeper and push the drivers further from your ears. I think that has the biggest effect.

I’d also add that if you add ZMF sheepskin perforated pads to the OG Clears it makes the treble less intense and provides more soundstage. I found that this made my clears work with a wider range of amplifiers. Not to mention if you choose to later sell the clears, you’ll have clean original...

Selling my Feliks Echo Mark 2 which I bought from another head-fier at the end of 2022. The unit is in great condition. Sounds especially great with OG Clears. I’ll also include upgraded tubes along with the stock tubes.

Headphones.com sells OG clears for $890. Schiit Bifrost DAC for $799 and a Schiit Midgard for $219. That gets you in under $2k with a great setup. The amp you could upgrade later. You can find Bifrost and clears used pretty often.

You should try the SS Tungsten. I believe it may have more bass than the DS. I listened to both back in October and that’s what I recall, but others who have heard both may be able to confirm. I also believe the using the hybrid pads may add more bass to the DS.

I ordered mine on 10/30 after meeting Ryan in person. I’m still in the 12 week window. He’s making each unit himself and they are made to order. That’s his business model. Opening up orders with others in queue should be expected.

When I listened to them at a meet up that was my impression. I ordered the SS shortly after and am still waiting for delivery. When talking with Ryan, he described the SS as being a mild v shaped headphone.
