Ibasso Discrete portable DAC with R2R D16

Thanks for your information. I thought I knew what I was talking about, but now I don’t think so. I really gotta study the operations of DACs properly… Apologies for the confusing comments of mine previously.

Ibasso Discrete portable DAC with R2R D16

Oh, I didn’t mean on D16. I think what I heard was about the noise floor when playing DSD64 NOS, that DSD64’s sampling rate is not quite sufficient and requires oversampling and such for high quality sound.

Ibasso Discrete portable DAC with R2R D16

I agree with you in that the sound is what that matters. With D16 also having excellent measurement specifications, it doesn’t really matter that much. Just curious about it, with one concern of having heard of high noise floor of DSD64, though I have seen only highly positive opinions about...

Ibasso Discrete portable DAC with R2R D16

I wonder if anybody knows to what sampling rate of DSD D16 convert/upsamples input digital signals into. Cayin’s 1 bit DAC products have available options being DSD 64/128/256 for RU7 and DSD 64/128/256/512 for N7, but there seems to be no related specification explicitly for D16. From the...

Ibasso Discrete portable DAC with R2R D16

I read your review again. Now I get that you do think D16 is absolutely worth its price! I think I am going to make my mind after trying DX320 MAX Ti and checking whether I would like a sound with less bass and treble emphasis. I really hope I get a chance to try D16 out if possible.

Ibasso Discrete portable DAC with R2R D16

Thanks to @Whitigir and @jamato8 for your answers. I feel like D16 is the product that I'm looking for, at not-as-expensive-as-flagship-DAPs kind of price, superior DAC performance according to opinions I've seen in this thread that enables me to use it later on when I get to buy a desktop amp...

Ibasso Discrete portable DAC with R2R D16

I got two more questions to @twister6 1. In your review of D16, there was ‘price’ among its cons. Does this mean it is too expensive for the sound quality, or just that it is not cheap enough for many people? 2. Today I had a chance to listen to LPGT with the IEM I’m planning to use with D16...

Ibasso Discrete portable DAC with R2R D16

Thanks for your answer. If P6 Pro Ti has brighter sound than P6 Pro, then it seems to be that D16 and P6 Pro Ti may sound more alike. Well, as always, I really should be listening to D16 by myself… Hope that I somehow manage to do that shortly.

Ibasso Discrete portable DAC with R2R D16

I have a question for @twister6 and anyone who have tried P6 Pro (Ti) or N7. I recently had an opportunity to listen to P6 Pro Ti and N7. Noticing that they have been compared to D16 in your review (regarding P6 Pro Ti as more or less similar sounding as P6 Pro), I ask this question. I heard...

Ibasso Discrete portable DAC with R2R D16

Hi, is there anyone who can compare D16 and Hugo 2 as a one box DAC/AMP combo? I have access to shops where I can try Hugo 2 but not D16… For tonality, I believe Hugo 2 will be more digital and bright with both being quite close to neutral from what I have heard for each device. My main...
