Thank you for your thoughts, I'm still contemplating on the serenade. 1k is the price I wanted but the schiit released a new class A amp I want to get as well. But the serenade looks very good on paper. A really nice all in one device. I know the ef400/600 have the option for nos/os.

I'm using the og card in my bifrost2/64 and yes you can switch from nos and mcb back and forth without reboot. The light will pulse when its in NOS mode and stay solid when in MCB mode.

I have the same combo, its very nice.

It's now $1k on sale now during the summer sale at the hifiman store. I'm not able to find anywhere if its NOS and OS. Anyone know?

Just picked these up during the monoprice sale. $130 including tax and shipping. Open box but that's fine considering the price. Gonna test these out after work.

The cable I used was a good quality 75 ohm coaxial cable. I went back and forth between just usb from the bifrost 2/64 and with the u18 with coax. There was just no difference whatsoever. I expected a difference even just a little bit. So I just returned to back to amazon.

Bifrost 2 doesn't use i2s, can only use optical or coaxial with the u18. Both are the same to my ears providing no difference compared to the bifrost 2 usb.
