The discovery thread!
Sorry to hear it wasn't up your alley. Good to see a direct comparison with the Maxwell as they should be the same drivers but very different build. I have been mainly gaming on them so far (Steam Deck ) so haven't given them a proper work out for music yet, though have listened a bit. For me...- Tsukimi

With a typical planar driver you should have an ultra-thin membrane (in the micron or at the very high end sub micron thickness level) which combined with powerful magnets will give you a driver that has incredibly good transient response and wide frequency range along with very detailed sound...- Tsukimi

SPD=Square Planar Driver They can be a bit controversial as some don't consider them "proper" planars and do not sonically perform like a traditional planar- Tsukimi

I'll do a comparison Vs. my lcd-i4s and Sony Pulse Explores (both full fat planars) and listen for the drumskin sound.- Tsukimi

@Dsnuts is probably one of the only people who can say at present (pulled the trigger so can post some thoughts next week hopefully) but from what is presented the micro planar is being used for the higher frequencies in particular not for everything. From his impressions: "If you ever owned a...- Tsukimi

You won't go wrong with the OD200, it's special sauce I think is it's immersion, puts you right in the centre of the action so to speak.- Tsukimi

Yes I think so too, they are likely Maxwell drivers. Reckon they will be better received as well given they aren't relying on terrible eartips like the pulse explore. Been hearing good things about the Pula 02, would-be interested to see how they stack up Vs similar driver configs- Tsukimi

Dunu S&S is now my default rec for eartips. Get the right size for you and they have the form and rigidity to seal, ensure you get that bass thump and security of fit.- Tsukimi

Sony PlayStation Pulse Explore Review : Been enjoying the Sony Pulse Explore buds over the holidays. Built for gaming and media, they come with a proprietary dongle that allows for lossless audio with a latency much better than Bluetooth. Unusually they are planar magnetic with drivers from...- Tsukimi

Anyone use TWS on PC? Looking for balance between 'Sound & Latency'
As yage says you need a dongle for gaming for sure due to latency, no way around it except wired. The Pulse Explore is my rec for sure, the dongle is included and you shouldn't notice latency playing games using it. Sound quality is great, only things I would say is that you should use your...- Tsukimi

Quick follow up. Yes, to my ears on my phone these sounded good, when amped, utterly awful. Also of note my Penon Totem adapter that usually enhances DD iems did not help here at all, if anything sounded even worse.- Tsukimi

On my portable set up these impressed. Fully amped, however they did not. I will give them another listen next weekend and confirm if my initial impressions still ring true. I guess it could be impedance related. My SR 5s still sound best to me on my Bluetooth earhook amps...- Tsukimi

A mini budget rec from Tiandirenhe: Presenting the 夕水 - Xī shuǐ / "Sunset Water" Small bullet 6mm PEEK & PET composite driver IEMs. Apparently 50 pairs only, and Tiandirenhe make the bold claim of: "宽大的声场,千元级别音效,无法用语言表达的爱......" That is to say a wide sound stage, thousand-dollar sound...- Tsukimi

Would prefer this not devolve into political mudslinging, there's enough of that going on across the internet already. Over the symbol there is no genuine offense here except the imagined and misinterpreted. :)- Tsukimi

Please do not conflate Nazi imagery which is distinct in image and association with the ancient symbol that has historical and religious meaning for millennia both East and West, not least in China from whence this earbud originates. Nice catch, had no idea Sony had bought Audeze! Been wanting to try the Euclid since getting lcd-i4s, so these may be just the trick, with the added advantage of bt & low latency & mic. It is natural, for sure and I agree nothing wrong with it. What I am concerned about is that we are increasingly seeing conflict and tempers flare which is no good for any of us. None of us are responsible for IMR so it is counter-productive to have this thread became a flame-war. This is the...- Tsukimi
