Actually I meant the moondrop aria. I know it doesn't NEED the balanced output, but I thought I would give it a try. I have other IEMs that run great with the 4.4mm termination of both my hip dac 2 and lotoo paw s1. It's specifically the aria that has these issues, and specifically the 4.4mm part.

okay, got it work. Had to upgrade all firmwares from 1.0.0.7 onwards sequentially. On 1.0.0.12 now.

Reminder, this is a brand new fresh piece. So I am still on 1.0.0.7 firmware if that matters

I just got a new paw s1, can't seem to update the firmware to 1.0.0.12. Keeps saying there is no space in the drive.

On the other hand, Idk why but i dig the zen design mantra, ultra sleek. I have the hip dac 2 which is amazing for the price, but the sheer elegance of the zen series design casees is underrated.

Maybe the newer units stopped shipping with the leather case. Looked nice, wasn't the strongest material unfortunately, very easy to tear.
