Best IEM tips?
Yup, happens to me on my right cuz of my 2nd bend being at a particular angle. Also I noticed the occlusion effect of well-sealed eartips is stronger on my right side and causes a resonance bump at around 90 Hz. The solution is Qudelix 5k or any other EQ that can do individual L/R correction...- anaveragebear

Bass Iems
Honestly, this is the best advice. EQ is a basshead's best friend. The Truthear Zero Red also works for this due to low distortion. As a Qudelix 5k shill, I recommend the Qudelix 5k to complement either of these. Full parametric EQ, individual L/R adjustments, 10 bands...set a low shelf at 100...- anaveragebear

Have any of you found a earphone that you consider to be perfect?
Moondrop Variations gets pretty close. It's maybe the only IEM in my collection I wouldn't be opposed to listening to without EQ.- anaveragebear

Best IEM tips?
I'm the opposite. For me, foam tips tend to grip better, shift less once in place, smooth out ear length resonances, block out more noise, and reduce the occlusion effect. The downsides are that they need to be replaced more often and they irritate the ear canals after extended use. For anyone...- anaveragebear

Best IEM tips?
Yes,it could have to do with the iem design, and it could also be something to do with the shape of your ears. Maybe the narrow bore tips seal better for you. It's also possible that the tips themselves are unique in that respect- anaveragebear

Yes, Qudelix 5k is great. But... ...I know from extensive tip rolling that the right fit would probably solve a lot (but not all) of the issue. A right fit that I haven't been successful in finding.- anaveragebear

Ok guys, I need your help, and a place for commiseration. I've had my Tia Trios for maybe two years now and I love almost everything about them. Except I have had problems ever since I started using them with something that sounds like a persistent channel imbalance of around 2 dB at 90Hz and...- anaveragebear

Best IEM tips?
This sounds like a medical issue to me. I'd consult a doctor. Your ear system has a lot of influence on your balance and connects to your throat and nose; I wouldn't be surprised if you're stimulating nerves in your ear canal that trigger your gag reflex. I'm not sure if it's possible but it...- anaveragebear

I would recommend EQ. Use a sine sweep to check. There should be peaks around 8k and 10k that if you attenuate will make the the treble a bit more bearable. I'd use a Q factor of like 4 or 5.- anaveragebear

Sony WH-1000XM5 Wireless Noise Cancelling
This is a misunderstanding of psychoacoustics. ANC works by generating a sound wave with the opposite phase as that of the ambient noise. When a sound wave and its polar opposite are summed together, the result is silence. Lower frequencies are much easier to cancel out because they have a...- anaveragebear

RikudouGoku has a list of cables from AliExpress he reviewed. I got a silver one he recommended and it's perfectly good. But I follow the empirical data and don't buy into (literally) the idea that cables affect sound quality except in edge cases.- anaveragebear

Me third. Even putting aside the price, a .925 silver shell is actually going to be a nightmare because silver tarnishes and you'll end up having to clean the thing without damaging the internals. Not to mention that the tarnish could cause frequency response changes depending on the structure...- anaveragebear

Best IEM tips?
Which ones do you use? I've really only ever seen the Spinfit CP240s, which I find are uncomfortable and add an unpleasant 11 or 12kHz ringing, and one variation of Acoustune tips whose exact name I can't currently remember (never tried them.)- anaveragebear

Seconded trio bass, it kicks and handles EQ well. The treble is definitely boosted, but I don't find it sibilant. On certain tracks (I listen to a lot of EDM), it can be a bit much, right at the cusp of needing to switch tracks or turn down the volume. In other words, it's an exciting listen...- anaveragebear

I tried them on the Trio. Bore was too big and they tended to get stuck in my ear. As for what I use, I'm *super* finicky on fit and I'm planning on getting custom eartips made (just need the money 🤦). In the meantime I'm currently on Newbee foams, which pair well with the Trio's aggressive treble.- anaveragebear
