To me, these sound VERY interesting. Even though I've really been into Head-Fi for about 4yrs, I've seen more than enough gushing over the HD 6XX / 650. There was things that interested me about them, like the legendary (for where it's sits in the market at a minimum) soundstage, but also the...

HiFiman HE-500 (HE as in High End) Proving to be an enjoyable experience in listening.

Your list almost replicates my collection. HE-500 (my Australian $200 bargain from original owner) & HE5-XX (my gateway to planars) and Ultrasone Signature DXP, Signature Studio, & Pro 2500 (semi-open or open?). The Signatures are fun daily drivers. And if you want to take a bit of a risk, pad...

Yes, well when I got mine off the original owner, the pads were at least 7 yrs old and had seen better days. I should correct myself by saying since there is more room between the driver and my ears, they may feel a bit more distant, but I adjust quickly to different 'phones. This, headphone...

No pro No problems at all. It's a comfortable fit for my ear shape, but adding a gel padded headband cover helps the weight distribution a lot. Takes the weight off your ears and the top of your head. Just don't tilt your head too far from level/perpendicular as the gel pad raises the centre of...

I have them. They replaced the original velour pads. What you have to do is measure the outside diameter of the mounting ring where the pad mounts to. That's the size pad you need. But so I had more of a choice, I 3D printed a mounting ring that was a few mm bigger, and now it takes 100 or...

[FiiO K5Pro/K5Pro ESS]Desktop DAC and Amplifier+768K/32Bit and DSD512 decoding+3 gain levels (K5 Pro ESS (Red Version) Is Available Now)

The K9 should be nice for 3 times the price I paid for my K5Pro, and the K9 Pro is over 6X what I paid! That's about Australian $700 to 1300 for those 2. If I'm spending that kinda $, I'd go a little further and look at an RME stack. It's nice to dream though. If I was to upgrade, I would...

Fingers crossed this will help someone else, if it wasnt for your reply that made me get that cable, i was seriously considering selling the K5 and just get a amp-only setup. Which would be a silly thing, as it's a great DAC/AMP for the money. If it can easily drive an OG HE-500 without going...

I've just received the cable. Colours now change! With the R3 Pro Saber, you can change how the USB C port functions, either data transfer, charging, our output. I changed it to output, and for FLAC & DSD files I get a purty lime green glow, and for anything 16/44.1 it's blue. I think it's the...

I purchased from Amazon a USB B (into K5) to USB C cable, as well as USB A to USB C adaptor. I can then use either. Fingers crossed that one of these works. I'm pretty sure my laptop (HP ZBook workstation) has some kind of built in DAC and it was changing colours on the volume knob according to...

Thanks so much for your quick reply. No, I can't configure the 3.5mm output at the DAP side. I've tried using a 3.5mm to coax cable, and I get nothing. The only other option is to get a USB-A to USB-C adaptor for the DAP, because as I said before, it lights up different colours when I connect...

Hi, I have a K5 Pro which I use with a Hiby R3 Pro Saber as a source. Is there any way that the K5 will show it's processing FLAC or DSD files? When it's connected via line in, all I get is blue lights, no matter what files are being played. When I change to a 3.5mm to Coax cable (Coax into...

No doubt wiser heads than me will be quick to correct me here, I think what you want are 3.5mm XLR plugs. The XLR will work with your balanced cable, and be 3.5mm. What I have no idea about is how to attach the XLR plug to your balanced cable, and then converting your plugs in the headphones...

Great news! Sometimes the most satisfying fixes are the easiest, and the least expected. I agree, 3.5mm would be the best option, just because you'll have the widest choice, and best range of prices. But the weekend is fast approaching, so go and make some time to enjoy your 'new' headphones...

Hopefully others will be more helpful than I will be, but are you able to use EQ in your setup? I'm not 100% sure EQ'ing will be the total solution, there may be other things you can do. (20 mins later...) Ok, just done a quick Google on this amp. Is it the Jotunheim 1 or 2? And do you...

Us Aussies have to live with the 'Australia Tax'. This is based on 2 things. Relatively small population (25 million) and long distance from anywhere. But there are exceptions, like iPhones. They're pretty close to US prices, but mostly we get ripped off for a lot of stuff. Yeah the rings are...

That's why it's free postage. If you aren't in the EU or US it won't process the order after putting your address in. Or in my case, they ship the rings from China to the US, then back to Australia and slug you AU$40 for the privilege.

TPU (flexible lightweight rubber like material) might not work because the tension of the pad will make it buckle. If you slicer program has a 'Strength' setting, use that. Also if you print in either PLA, PLA+ or PETG, they'd be more than strong enough. I tried one design, and if you looked at...

I think the rings are still about that price. The $40 was just for postage. I've never had this microphonic effect people talk about. Now Meze 99 Neo's, there's a microphonic cable. It's funny how different people swear by different pads on here. For some it's the DCAEthere. Some it's the stock...

Will do the Fuzzor mod sooner or later, got the self adhesive felt. I have Arctic Grills installed. My version was a later model with the 'look at them and they tangle' silver cables and the travel case (not the box). When I finish spending on my latest hobby, 3D printing I might look at...

If you have access to a 3D printer, here's a link to the rings i made. I was wrong with the sizes i quoted before, there's only a 98 & 104 mm ring. For mine i used the 98mm ring and the 100mm pads wre a snug fit. For the 105mm pads, use the 1-4mm version...

These rings will be for Hifiman pads with the plastic ring stuck to the back of the pad. The 110mm pads will fit the 108mm 3d printed rings.

If you look at the last picture here, see that small lip? The Brainwavz lip is about twice the size of that. These both fit the same way, and the Dekonis look like they'd be a neater fit as there is less lip to fit in the channel.

They look like perforated sheepskin. I have the same on mine, but I also have the hybrid (velour/PU leather). Well done on getting one with 3d printed mounts, as you can use the 100mm range of Brainwavz pads. To remove them, hook your finger on the inside (where the pad goes around the top of...

HiFiman HE-500 (HE as in High End) Proving to be an enjoyable experience in listening.

For me, it's a matter of learning what stuff is still good irrespective of age. Three examples; speakers, headphones & turntables. If the actual driver was good (in the case of speakers) when it was new, and be repaired/replaced then it'll still be good. But other things like mobile phones or...
