I tend to order my cables "naked" but those sleeves are beautiful. Great color choice.

That was an awesome review. I also have a Caldera and Utopia 2022 and use an Arctic Euphoria with both, and my listening impressions with the Utopia 2022 are very similar to yours. I use the same cable for both headphones. It's terminated in mini-XLR, and Roy made me a mini-XLR to Utopia...

I don't recommend the CuTECH. I have 2 cables with the connector, and I'm sending both back to Arctic to replace. I originally had one cable with the CuTECH and although tight, it worked fine with my Burson Soloist 3XP. When I ordered another cable, I ordered it with the CuTECH too. Roy warned...

    ZMF Verite Open

I've never tried the Forza, so unfortunately can't definitively say whether another cable would give you what you're looking for. My Arctic Gladius cable is half copper and half copper/silver hybrid, so I'm guessing three quarters copper. It has the warmth of a pure copper cable, with lots of...

    ZMF Verite Open

Are you using a ZMF stock cable? If that's the case, then a silver or copper/silver hybrid might give you some more treble extension. That's what I've done for other headphones, although I'm happy with the level of treble in the VO/BE2 combo myself.

The Gladius is an excellent cable and I'm going to use mine on a regular basis, it's not going to be thrown into the "box where cables go to die". The Euphoria gives you something different, which is only better if that is what you're looking for. By the way, I don't have a VC but I really enjoy...

    Arctic Cables Discussion Thread

I've owned a Euphoria cable for a couple of months, and I thought it was about time to do a proper comparison between my all-silver Euphoria and my copper and copper-silver hybrid Gladius. My listening chain was: DAC: Mojo Audio Mystique X SE Amp: LTA Ultralinear+ Headphones: ZMF Caldera...

Headphones for LTA Ultralinear + Integrated

I haven't noticed a reduction in gain, but I wasn't paying attention either. I've been in the same 20-30 range on volume with both 5751 and 12AX7.

They're pretty new, so you might have to ask for them over email. When I ordered my Euphoria, Val asked me if I wanted them and I'm glad I said yes, because they look fantastic. He called them "custom high-quality AC mini XLRs" that would match my carbon splitter.

Headphones for LTA Ultralinear + Integrated

I just stumbled upon your post. If you like it with your speakers, it sounds like a synergy problem with the Anandas. I haven't used Anandas before, but from what I've read, they should be fairly easy to drive. My Ultralinear+ sounds great IMO with my ZMF Caldera and RAD-0 (similarly easy to...

    Focal Utopia 2022 Review, Measurements

Here are some notes that I've made, from a comparison of the MZ3 and UL+, and Nautilus and UL+. Noise: Both LTA amps are dead silent. In contrast, the Nautilus has a low level hum with the Utopia when music isn't played (which isn't noticeable when playing music). I hadn't really noticed the...

    Focal Utopia 2022 Review, Measurements

@Atriya Do you live near any of the CanJam or other audio show locations? I'd recommend that you take your Utopia to a show and try it on different amps. For instance, both Ampsandsound and LTA tend to attend all the major shows. Even if the vendor is a headphone manufacturer, they'll normally...

    Focal Utopia 2022 Review, Measurements

When I had the Yggy, I could turn the Nautilus' volume knob 2 clicks (from 6 o'clock to barely 7 o'clock) before it was too loud. With the XLR cables plugged into the attenuators, set to -15dB, I could comfortably reach past 12 o'clock. As far as degradation of sound, Justin (ampsandsound owner)...

    Focal Utopia 2022 Review, Measurements

My Nautilus had almost no volume range with my Stellia when fed from the balanced output of an Yggy. And this was using a 12au7. After talking to Justin about it, I bought some Shure XLR attenuators, which gave me a lot more range with the volume knob. After I changed to a single ended DAC...

That would be the Apeiron, which they list as X4-wire configuration, 15.5-AWG per polarity of OCC copper. I don't have the Apeiron, but I do own a Gladius (X4-wire 17-AWG copper and X4-wire 17-AWG copper/silver hybrid), and I would consider the Gladius to be in the "copper family" in terms of...

    Schiit Yggdrasil Impressions thread

When I did it, I found the SBAF instructions easy to follow. I recommend you have a grounding strap like this. As the SBAF instructions say, you can always ground yourself by touching the chassis of the Yggy, but it's easier to have a strap IMO.

Have you heard the new Linear Tube Audio Z10e amplifier?

I noticed the same thing on the z10E at CanJam Chicago last year, where it sounded like a filter was being applied to the mids and bass until I turned the volume up to a certain level. And again at Axpona this year. The MZ3 at CanJam didn’t do that, so I ended up buying an MZ3, and recently...

I'd recommend emailing them at info@arcticcables.com. I've found them to be pretty responsive. Out of interest, which cable were you thinking of doubling up? They might already have a cable that uses a thicker wire which might be equivalent to doubling up another of their cables.

My new Euphoria cable came today. I know it's all about the sound, but this is an exceptionally pretty cable. I especially like how the headphone connectors, amp connector and splitter all match. I'm going let it burn in for a bit before posting impressions but having tested it on both my...

That's exactly what I've done, ordered cables with mini xlr connectors, and then used adapters for other headphones, which saves a lot of money. All the boutique cable companies should be able to make them, so if you're ordering a cable from Arctic, just let them know what you need. Another...

ZMF Caldera - New Planar Magnetic from ZMF!

Just to add to the discussion, hopefully without throwing any more gasoline on the flames, I went through a variety of emotions when I started reading these SJY posts. ZMF Atrium Closed - the latest closed back headphone from ZMF

My journey with the Atrium Closed began when it was first released, when I was lucky enough to borrow both an olive and a cherry headphone, to see if I could tell the difference. This was actually the first time I've noticed a big difference between different woods in the same model, and for my...

Thanks, I've now bought 3 cables from Arctic and the buying experience is the opposite of going to Amazon and clicking on "buy" (although you can do that, if you really know what you want). I enjoy the back and forth with Val, and even when I was pretty sure I knew what I wanted, Val gave me...

I wanted to add how much I enjoyed @Sound Eq 's review. If my write-up was missing the usual bass/mids/highs descriptions, it's mainly because my findings mirrored his when I paired my Caldera with the Gladius, and it was hard not to write anything without plagiarizing him. Like @Sound Eq , I...

I've had my Gladius cable since December. I had just bought a ZMF Caldera, and was comparing the various cables that I had on hand. My favorites were an OCC silver DHC Prion4, which I'd borrowed, and my own OCC copper Arctic Cuprum cable. Although I liked the Prion4 cable a little more, the...
