Codec handshake is entirely down to the transmission device, not the TWS in this case. My Pi7’s connect faultlessly in AptX HD to my Hiby R5 which ia an Android 8.1 / Bluetooth 4.2 device, but only connect via AptX to my newer Hiby R6 2020 which runs Android 9.0 / Bluetooth 5.0. Hiby have...

Lightning Audio Module is capped at 24/48 but could be lifted to higer rates if Apple chooses to.

Ive had them connected in AptX HD from various sources, so it may well be the Bluetooth implementation on the device that’s the issue. What I don’t get is why you would want HD when you can get Adaptive? It’s a later implementation of hi-res capable codec that offers 24/48 streaming, but just...

Going fully Wireless IEMs. Too soon? Or are we there yet?

Thanks fo the information, but honestly that just shows me you can control volume through certain applications, and does not explain fundamental low volume over Bluetooth without app intervention. I’m certainly not looking to argue about this, but it seems an important topic to explore further...

Sorry My mistake. I have an original 12.9 iPad with 3.5mm & Lightning. So none of these on the new ones?

I‘m not sure I get this? My Sony NW-ZX507 had an EU volume cap that made it useless for IEM’s, and worse for over-ears, but the bluetooth volume was surprisingly loud, suggesting your hypothesis is at least in part correct. However, how can Apple interfere with the Bluetooth volume if it’s...

As others may have mentioned, you iPhone or iPad Bluetooth connection is limited to 256k AAC. However, your iPad 3.5mm is a pure analogue output capable of deliverind 24/192 hi-res music. The Lightning Audio Module restricts output to 24/48, but still hi-res. When you connect the Pi7 Case to the...

I don’t agree. I’ve got 2 Android DAP’s running 8.1 and 9.0, and both have more than enough power for the Pi7’s. The highest I’ve listened to is around 70 out of 100 and whilst the buds seemed happy to go higher, my ears did not. @mainguy - you might want to check some of the smaller Hiby units...

I think you’re talking nonsense. And your credibility is seriously in question. I think the Pi7’s are frankly in a different league to all other TWS I either own or have tried, but as others have pointed out, sound and our ability to hear it is subjective. Nevertheless, if you think that 256k...

I don’t really rate any TWS noise cancelling, and certainly wasn’t the reason I bought the Pi7, but they seem on par with my Sony & AKG’s. No comparison to decent over ears though.

It can’t. Streaming from the case is AptX LL only.

Yep. Works perfectly on my Hiby R5.

Can definitely tell when ANC is on. Works pretty well but I’m not expecting on-par performance to my Sony or AKG over ears. The Fiio only supports Bluetooth 4.0, so maybe they don’t play nice with older versions? My Hiby R5 is only Bluetooth 4.2 and didn’t perform as well as the R6 2020 with 5.0.

I bought the Ikko iplanet for the MT to see if they’d fit in the temperamental case. Alas, the MT’s went back due to all the other issues I was having with them before they turned up. Fit well on the AKG N400 and B&W Pi7’s and sound decent without bloating the bass too much. Have since settled...

    HiBy R6 2020 User Impressions

Amazing machine. Quick with an amazing sound and screen. Incredible sound through my AKG N40’s, or using wireless on my shiny new B&W Pi7’s..........

You’re not feeding the Pi7’s the quality they need to shine. Wireless from an iPhone means 256k AAC. How can that compete with wired IEM’s, even ones as sloppy as the IE300? Drive them through a decent player that supports AptX Adaptive and you’d hear a huge difference. I’m very happy with them...

According to B&W website and User Manual, the PX7 does support AptX Adaptive. I was checking as thinking of purchasing myself.

In the UK, the 8T only supports AptX Classic, HD, AAC & LDAC?

Going fully Wireless IEMs. Too soon? Or are we there yet?

Correct. My understanding is that AptX Adaptive is backwards compatible with HD. My Hiby does not support adaptive, so defaults to HD. On the document I downloaded from the B&W site in the UK it states the following codes are supported; AptX – Adaptive AptX – HD AptX – Low Latency AptX –...

My Hiby R6 2020 is connected by AptX HD to the Pi7. Quality is stunning - I’m hearing things that I’ve never heard with any other headphones I own. Not tried the case to transmit yet, so cannot comment on the quality or codec used.

Going fully Wireless IEMs. Too soon? Or are we there yet?

Night and day for me. I use an android DAP for most home / mobile listening, so the XM3 only play AAC on those models which is why I wanted a decent AptX implementation on my forever TWS. The Sony feels rich and warm, but almost muddy. For me they’re wasted on Tidal or Qobuz, but actually seem...

No. Sorry - I normally use my iMac speakers for Webex as I’m in a quiet home office.

Going fully Wireless IEMs. Too soon? Or are we there yet?

In answer to the original question, with the arrival this morning of my shiny new B&W’s, then yes, I think we are there with TWS. These are so far in advance of anything else I’ve heard it makes almost all other headphones redundant. I’m not an audiophile, so forgive the lack of description, but...
