    The Opamp thread

I'm using the same combo on my X-Fi Titanium HD. I don't think any other opamp combo would beat this

The LME49720NA is quite good but the HA version is better

    The Opamp thread

I bought a couple of LME49710HA for my Titanium HD, I already have LME49720HA for I/V but because of my previous impression the HA is far better than NA so I bought the HA version of 49710 and I'm not disappointed. Indeed it sounds better, no longer sterile on female vocal. Funny that the two...

    The Opamp thread

Quote: Not really crap, it got less punch than before but I'm no basshead so its a non issue to me. I don't recommend people to get this if they wanted bass, because there isn't much of it. LME49720 just screams details and soundstage but not bass.

    The Opamp thread

Just got a cople of metal cans LME49720HA. Replaced it on my Xonar HDAV1.3 on buffer stage (previously DIP LME49720NA) and replaced the utput opamp from LM4562 to LME49720NA. I can't believe the clarity and the soundstage the HA offers over the NA. It sounds like a totally new opamp! Much MUCH...

    ASUS Xonar HDAV1.3 mods

Alright sorry for the long delays. Here' some pics of my mods. Luckily there is some good caps on my old Sony CRT monitor so I don't need to buy any. The info of the mods are on my previous post but I put here anyway. Replace 8200pF to lower 4700pF caps on buffer feedback. This adds detail...

    ASUS Xonar HDAV1.3 mods

Sorry I been busy with new semester registration and classes. I will look for mods on the weekend. I thinking of doing the opamp caps bypass that you did. I found a couple of 2.2uF caps but it looks like I must ditch the metal EMI shield if I install it Nice system setup you got there, I will...

    ASUS Xonar HDAV1.3 mods

I removed the previous 0.22uF bypass on opamp supply because I believe the value is too small to make any difference. I have one 1uF MKP and 1uF electrolyctic but because the space is so tight and the caps were huge I don't dare to put it there, and the leads going to be long as well. I will dug...

    ASUS Xonar HDAV1.3 mods

I done more modding to the card, I been PM'ing someone here about capacitor value in relation to Fc frequency and so I removed the 8.2nF output feedback caps and replaced them with 4.7nF ones because the stock value means Fc of 50kHz, with this I could probably raise it by double around 100kHz...

    Explain your avatar

That girl? She's Nori from Harvest Moon Tales of Two Towns. I'm wooing her right now and plan to marry her, but then again I'm wooing every single bachelorettes in both town. But I like her more since she got very long straight hair, reminding me of my ex....

Give me a crash course in OPAMPS

Quote: If you use single channel opamp on the place of dual channel ones the most likely that would happen is you can kiss those opamp goodbye. But its likely your card survives, so put those stock 2114D back and it should work. This is based on my experience because I did this silly...

Skyrim - 9/10   Never been the fan of previous series (Morrowind or Oblivion), on previous game Oblivion I only went to two gates then gets bored and never played again This is the first of this game I went through and now on level 33 and quite addicted to it. The other Bethesda game that I...

    ASUS Xonar HDAV1.3 mods

Quote: Yea its quite tough to get them to stick or to remove them and the trace is fragile especially on positive terminal. Its great to hear that you managed to get it done. I presume all the PCM179x sounds almost identical except for some small little details such as noise. And its good...

    ASUS Xonar HDAV1.3 mods

Quote: Hmm weird because I see lots of peeps doing the things I did on Xonar threads, user like csy and shimm doing what I did. I will try to ground them properly and see whether if that made any noticeable difference.   Its kinda bad because its not fatiguing at high volume because...

    ASUS Xonar HDAV1.3 mods

Oh in that case I need to find the ground plane then, what I done is simply just solder the capacitor leg in parallel to stock caps. I need to check the board again.   I did some testing just now since my dad went out so its pretty quiet, my oh my it really sounds good. Unlike other...

    ASUS Xonar HDAV1.3 mods

Thanks again germanium. I guess what you mean the two 47uF solid caps on the right of buffer is it?   I'm out of capacitor really, I found some 0.22uF red mylar caps from dead CRT circuits. There is plenty of mylar caps on the PCB but I need to check for pairs but so far that is the largest...

    ASUS Xonar HDAV1.3 mods

Stock capacitor value is 220uF. 220uF for metallized film caps were huge, since there is no DC offset I don't want to use caps over there. More stuff on audio path isn't a good thing.   I'm thinking of modifying some caps on power section next, but I don't know whether it would make any...

    ASUS Xonar HDAV1.3 mods

Thanks for the reply germanium This card is probably closer to STX like you said because it uses molex connector to power its analog out just like STX did but the capacitor used is not the one that being used on the STX, its just the regular caps. The short leg distance between the capacitor...

Haven't been a while since I posted an article here, since its my semester break and I have some money I thought of buying new cards replacing dead X-Fi XtremeMusic, its Xonar HDAV1.3. I got it 2nd hand for less than the price of new one and since its out of warranty I looking to improve it...

Creative Sound Blaster Recon3D THX PCIE Sound Card SB1350

This card isn't good at all, you can read it here http://vr-zone.com/articles/creative-s-sound-core3d-gets-nekkid-in-front-of-the-camera/14353.html. They went backward, integrating DAC/ADC in the DSP itself. It won't sound any better than similarly priced X-Fi       Quote:

What's the best Soundcard for music, movies and games??

I been using ASUS Xonar HDAV1.3 for everything; games, movies and music and it worked well in all occasion. The Dolby Pro Logic IIx and Dolby Virtual Speaker works well in games and movies, and you could dump those in HiFi mode when listening to music. I suggest you try it as well. I just have...

Rate The Last Movie You Watched

Tron: Legacy in 3D 7/10   Most of the 7 is for its 3D and graphics, storywise I think the first one is much much better. But the soundtrack is great, integrates well with the movie theme. Overall its a worthy movie to watch in 3D.   Tangled 8/10   Watched with family. First time...
