Is the Cayin RU6 a better value at $60-$100 cheaper? Or is this more comparable to the more powerful and similarly-priced Cayin RU7?

Best Smartphone for audiophile Part II (Updated: Jan 2020)

Does anyone have any experience using the claimed 120db+ speakers on the Oukitel WP22 or Oukitel WP33 Pro? I have been enjoying both the JBL Soundboost and the JBL Soundboost 2 speaker mods -- both around 80-85db -- on my Moto Z4 so far and I think mine have more richness and soundstage in...

Best Smartphone for audiophile Part II (Updated: Jan 2020)

Small as the handful may be there are $30 headphones and IEMs that sound every bit as good as $120 models do exist. Likewise there's DAPs like the Fiio M17 that can be had for $1400 on sale which get you 95% to a what's offered in some $5500 DAPs. So by that logic of "there's affordable audio...

Best Smartphone for audiophile Part II (Updated: Jan 2020)

Okay here's the final catalog for 2023. My recommendation? Anything with insane battery life to handle the extra power drain from an external dongle DAC-AMP if you find the internal DAC to not be good enough for your ears. Just over 300 models across 34 brands released over the past 5 years...

Best Smartphone for audiophile Part II (Updated: Jan 2020)

I've decided not to include this in the 'phones with headphone jack' list since it's slower than the Galaxy S8 (or Apple A9 SoC for reference), but have you ever wanted a Fiio M17 without the fancy amp, balanced ports, and tailored audio enthusiast features? Well I kinda wanna see just to see...

✨:christmas_tree:Ground out this update over the past 7 hours.........MERRY CHRISTMAS! 🎁 P.S. I still have 322 more models from Vivo and Realme to sift through so I'll probably post another update around New Year's (edit: end of January maybe 🤞)

Yeah I would define the sound signature are a "Dark U" in comparison to the "Dark V" on the BGVP Zero. I might need to give both a side-by-side listening session sometime!

These are seemingly source sensitive when it comes to balanced output sources. I tried these with my Hidizs S9 Pro DAC-AMP dongle and the sporadic hissing was pretty noticable. Then I plugged it into the 3.5mm port built-into my Xperia 10 IV and it was a lot better if barely noticeable at all.

Just a heads up: my academic quarter ends mid-December so I'm hoping to work on it the week after and have an updated "US Compatible smartphones with a headphone jack" list posted here by Christmas 🤞🎄

If you only bought one pair it might have a defective power controller chip. Or maybe it's the charging case? Both ears? Or just one of the two has this issue?

@lior777 about a worthy upgrade from the S9 Pro? I'd love to hear about more $175-$275 options that would top this for me besides the RU6/RU7 from Cayin. As for the other Hidizs S9 Pro page here on Head-Fi? Yeah. Same product, 4 more reviews than this page.

Lul-lol that's how I got all my personal tech, seam-less (not actually seamless) shirts, and highend outdoors gear for 35-75% off: relentless hunting on FB Marketplace, friends selling "old" stuff, eBay, Amazon, and used gear stores. Stuff almost always pops up if you're crafty, patient, and...

Best Smartphone for audiophile Part II (Updated: Jan 2020)

I've had my Sony Xperia 10 IV (the latest "10 V" has virtually identical specs) for almost 10 months and I use mine with my Hidizs S9 Pro DAC-AMP dongle when I have over-ear headphones plugged in and probably planar magnetic IEMs too if I ever get one in the future. The reason why I went for...

Hey all, it's been a while since I last posted an updated version of the "Smartphones that Still have a 3.5mm Headphone Jack" list. Been pretty busy with work, family, and extracurriculars but I am still keeping up with new phone industry releases so that I'm aware of which brands to update...

I would have like to get a SKU with that chassis color, but at a 40% discount and lightly used I couldn't refuse the deal I got for mine. Then I found a Spigen-knockoff case with the best rear-camera protection........

For me it's not so much the screen flickering, the battery's tendency to offgas if left unchecked discharging on a shelf for months xD :p I'd rather get a flagship from Sony (variable telephoto cameras), Google (cameras overall), Asus (gaming or compact size), Vivo (invisible underscreen...
