@holco, I upgraded for that very reason even though I had my R8 nicely burned in and performing at an optimal level. It sounded just amazing...but it has a new home now and I'm busy burning in my R7 MKII along w/ my After Dark Emperor 10mhz clock...because it's early days in the burn in process...

Yes it’s legit. You can only buy Nimak on EBAY for now. I’m in Montréal and it took about 2 weeks to deliver but it got here. Know lots of folks in this forum that have had no issues either…you’re good.

The Nimak 3 is no slouch either...haven't found a need to upgrade to the 5 or 7 yet... :) Like everything, needs a good burn in...

Yep that was me and it just continues to improve. By the way the clock I got from AfterDark was specific to the Ether-Regen at 75Ohm. I just ordered the 50Ohm cable from AfterDark (the red one) for the Di-20 and a Oyaide Silver 75Ohm cable for the Ether-Regen. The stock cables are decent but...

Just switched the Ether-regen & DI-20 clocks to an external 10M clock and the results are nothing short of remarkable - highly recommended...now need to replace my R8 w/ a R7 to do the same there...

I have a set of Gold Lions too and they sound amazing as well...I prefer the- dynamic cans like my VO on tubes vs. planars like my Ed. X v2 or Empyrean...The Cayin tube rolls so well...real quality for sure.

Issue fixed...fellow Head-fier on another thread recommended this...use pre-out from the Master 19 headamp/pre-amp into the Cayin...Eureka...this is actually even better than plugging into the Cayin directly...Have to say those Telefunken NOs brings so much sparkle! Telefunken 12au7 Telefunken...

When I use the RME ADI-2 into the Cayin, there is no issue...so maybe the R8 DAC is just too much for the Cayin to handle...

I used both Balanced to the amp and ACSS to the amp. Same issue. I used the M19 w/ an RME ADI-2-FS and a Bluenode 2i - no issues. The amp is good for sure...so I'll keep burning in and see...hoping it just magically goes away...but we all know that's not how it works :)

Yep, I tried a SPDIF (AQ Cinnamon) same issue - crack / pops. It's less pronounced than USB but more than the HDMI.
