Buy the Sennheiser HD800S now or save up for the HE1000SE? (Mostly Gaming)
I’ve auditioned both and they’re both excellent. I ended up going with the HE1000 because the HD800 can’t match its bass performance or quantity. In other words, I think the HD800 is legendary for a reason but it’s not an all rounder.- bgpolyhistor

The GH 50’s have less than 20 hours of use. They look and sound great. I have the original cable and travel case. These were purchased in December of 21 from Audio46. At the time their retail price was $1499, so this is a solid deal considering this special edition is no longer in production...- bgpolyhistor

Oriolus Szalayi IEM discussion thread
It may be as simple as my hearing- I’m sensitive to higher frequencies. My ear goes to the bass first, I also play bass guitar. That’s why I have owned predominantly basshead products, and why I elaborate the most on that frequency. My ears are skewed toward bass heavy tunings, so when I find...- bgpolyhistor

Oriolus Szalayi IEM discussion thread
So I had multiple opportunities last week to listen to Szayali after 100 hours of burn in. I'm listening at home right now on my desktop setup (Klipsch heritage amplifier, JRiver Media Center). While on vacation I spent a few days listening to Sza with the Cayin N3Pro, and a few days listening...- bgpolyhistor

Oriolus Szalayi IEM discussion thread
Sza arrived today. Had a preliminary listen and honestly I like what I hear- bass quantity is what I was hoping for. Prominent but not overdone. I did somewhat notice the bass not being as tight as it could be- seems like I’ve read multiple comments saying this gets better with burn in. I’m not...- bgpolyhistor

Oriolus Szalayi IEM discussion thread
Same here. Going on vacation in 2 weeks, haven’t purchased any other sets this year, had to bite the bullet and order from MusicTeck. Now, I need some new music to listen to as well….- bgpolyhistor

The iBasso AMP13 Korg NUTUBE is Shipping Now from Audio46
I originally bought the N3Pro on a Black Friday deal, assuming it was the least expensive way to hear tubes. The Amp13 doesn’t drastically alter the sound as far as I can tell- but with the N3Pro you can quickly switch between solid state, ultra linear and triode. This makes for a very easy...- bgpolyhistor

The iBasso AMP13 Korg NUTUBE is Shipping Now from Audio46
This amp is the reason I went with a DX300. I was disappointed when they discontinued the 300 and assumed they wouldn’t make any additional hardware for it. I was pleasantly surprised to be able to purchase the Amp13. It arrived yesterday and I haven’t given it a proper listen yet, but hoping it...- bgpolyhistor

Louisville Meet
Yes I messaged him before posting. I have small kids and getting away would be logistically difficult, unfortunately. I appreciate the invite though and hope to be able to attend down the road. -
Louisville Meet
I was just trying to gauge interest for meeting up in Louisville. Really no shops for high end portable audio, it would be nice to hear some different gear and meet other community members. Anyone interested?- bgpolyhistor

Kennerton Gjallerhorn GH 50
The world's first horn-loaded headphone. The most important advantage of horn headphones is the ability to develop a good sound pressure and give excellent dynamics from the first milliwatts with minimal distortions. Horn Headphones reproduce the most subtle musical nuances and most fully and...- bgpolyhistor

ZMF - Most Bass slam & extension?
So now I find myself in the same situation- looking for a ZMF model that has good bass quantity and quality. I’m a little surprised Atticus hasn’t received much attention. I haven’t heard any ZMF products and won’t be able to audition before buying. Based solely on the ZMF website’s...- bgpolyhistor

Empire Ears - Discussion & Impressions (Formerly EarWerkz)
Would like to hear opinions from you guys- is there any benefit to pre-ordering EVO other than the leather case? I'm think I'm willing to buy these, but last year on black friday the OG Legend X went on sale for $600 off and EE heavily discounted customs on their website. I don't care whether...- bgpolyhistor

DAC/Amp Recommendations
I’m really glad you pointed this out, thank you. I was leaning toward Lyr w, DAC card and Lokius. That would have been disappointing. Somewhat unrelated- it’s okay to use a balanced cable on an unbalanced port right? Like some of my IEM’s have a 2.5mm cable, so I was going to buy a 3.5mm male...- bgpolyhistor

DAC/Amp Recommendations
I was looking at the Lyr 3 with ESS DAC module just because the Lyr seems to be an upgrade in SQ compared to the Jotunheim. And I actually prefer an all in one solution to stacking a separate DAC and AMP…….but I wanted to buy Lokius with it. To make sure I’m understanding you- why couldn’t you...- bgpolyhistor

Empire Ears - Discussion & Impressions (Formerly EarWerkz)
Campfire Audio Polaris II. Otherwise, it can’t compete with Nio or LX in any other regard. But sheer bass impact and quantity is quite visceral.- bgpolyhistor

DAC/Amp Recommendations
I am currently researching a new desktop setup for work. I currently own a Klipsch Heritage amp/DAC. It works as a preamp as well so I can use a switch on the front to change between headphones and a powered speaker. I would like to have this feature on my new setup. I won’t be using any open...- bgpolyhistor
