FiiO M15S Pocket Desktop-Level Player Discussion & Impressions Thread
Can you guys plug/use 2 different IEMs or cans on the M15s outputs? I heard it's possible to do thay with the M17.- Elbonja

If I'm using the device on DC mode, if by any chance I accidentally unplug it, would it turn off? Is it internally protected against power surges? Are there going to be new cover cases anytime soon?- Elbonja

First of all, you can very well damage your hearing. Second, loudness is not exclusive to iems. My point is, your senses are focusing on something else, not on the music, therefore it's -in my opinion- a waste of money spending on mildly expensive gear to go to the gym. It's understandable if...- Elbonja

I honestly never understood why people take their DAPs to the gym. Where all the noise and overall workout would interrupt the sound quality. I use a Sony WS413 player for my workouts. It doesn't even support flac files, but It's waterproofed and super resistant. Besides, I don't mess around...- Elbonja

The fact that you refer to a DAP as a "portable entertainment center" speaks volumes... You should look elsewhere if the OS is your absolute priority. I personally don't have a problem with it as long as it plays music uninterruptedly. In fact, if I ever pull the trigger on the M15S I would...- Elbonja

I think the reason why they've decided to implement Android 10 was already explained on the thread, you have to read. Your second point is pretty legit, it'd be interesting to know if there would be future updates.- Elbonja

That was basically my premise. It's hard to spot the difference after "certain price". It doesn't really surprise me that the M15, M15s and M11 sound similar. I've always wanted a DAP with an integrated DC mode, so I've got that going on for me(if I pull the trigger). Wonder if its possible to...- Elbonja

There's a reason most people into this hobby tend to reject blind testing their products. When it comes to the human sensory apparatus, psychological factors have a lot to do with how we listen to sound. A blind test is a fair test, more than 95% of the time, people can not spot the difference...- Elbonja

1. I'm here because I want to. 2. As I said before, my primary characteristic I'm looking for is DC mode. 3. As I said before, MOST DAPs sound the same. I didn't say ALL. In your opinion, what percentage of influence over sound quality do you attribute to the headset? 20%? 30%? 40%?- Elbonja

"Totally wrong" sounds quite subjective, as my initial statement apparently. But yes, most DAPs do sound the same, what really makes a difference is what you plug in your ears. I said most, right? The differences are subtle and in my opinion not worth some of the over the top prices out there...- Elbonja

I think it depends on your actual necessities. I'm looking for certain characteristics on my next DAP: Longevity(I'm a logistics engineer, due to the nature of my job I travel -A LOT-. I don't want to deal with broken buttons, screen problems or battery issues on the short term) Sound...- Elbonja

Given your preferences, you may want to consider getting a smartphone and a portable Dac/Amp. I personally have the FiiO M15s on my list along with Shanling's M7 and Hiby RS6. The M15s is actually on top of my list solely for the DC mode.- Elbonja

I was thinking the exact same thing, however(not saying I'm pulling the trigger on this one, I'm still exploring my options), this DAP has a feature I was looking for precisely. I was really waiting for a portable player with DC mode(for me M17 is over the top). We all know batteries are the...- Elbonja

Fair enough. So far this ticks a few boxes: DC mode for battery preservation (battery is the first component that usually fails on any mobile device), pure player mode and relatively new android. I assume you can already see the pattern here, I focus on longevity. I'm open to suggestions and...- Elbonja

It's not necessarily a bad thing, but it makes me think of the amount of research and dedication to put into it(Not to mention longevity of their products). I've had a couple of Dac/Amps from FiiO and my intention is not to talk ill of the brand, but most of the time I tend to look for products...- Elbonja

Something tells me it'll cost over $1000. Not sure if that'd be considered "midfi" at this point, since it's practically impossible to hear the difference most of the time.- Elbonja
