    SONY NW-ZX500

Zx507 is a great sounding player with amazing sound and portability. Battery is tiny for android operations. I personally like WM1A in every aspect as compared to zx507 including the sound quality and OS. If zx507 had Sony OS, I will keep both. My 2019 Sony android oled tv was always slow since...

    SONY NW-ZX500

Won’t be as good as the real one, but I can recommend “Hans Zimmer-Live in Prague“ blu ray, I am not sure its the first one but a rare disc to have a concert in Dolby Atmos. Best enjoyed in full atmos set up, but 5.2.2 or 7.2.2 would suffice to mimic the crowd and height. I put .2 in middle as...

Someone crossed the line saying user’s ears have problem. Who said Sony’s products are terrible? I lost you there..

I didn’t intend to hurt your feelings, nothing personal. It was a general opinion on how companies cater to masses. I mentioned about class earlier.

Not worth 800. For 350, most will buy of course with that budget.

This is where Sony zx507 doesn't appeal to purist, they will steer clear of that wifi, android mess with baby battery. It could be their secondary player, but never primary.

    SONY NW-ZX500

Manufacturers like Sony have to compensate for a mediocre product by introducing fancy technologies to keep fanboys in fantasy. Firmware updates one after another, changes in sound screens to keep the listeners busy ranting or appreciating. Sony does a far superior job in keeping most type of...

    SONY NW-ZX500

I still use my A17 for some tracks, with heavy sound processing, its soothing and satisfying but it can’t beat the genuine quality of a high end dap. Hilariously, I like karaoke mode in it when used mildly and it delivers great results for handful of songs. It all comes down to how thin or thick...

I knew a colleague who was obsessed with his new BMW 3 series so much that he offered dealership triple the amount he owed. They gladly accepted it and threw party for the entire staff. Later, to burst his bubble, I told him to test drive an M3 and M5, after driving those things changed, he...

Direct mode sounds fantastic in certain applications. For me OSTs sound way better in Direct mode, in OFF the sound marginally gets less detailed, muffled and a bit soft. I never found direct to be hollow, I would say it might have less weight less processing but more precise. For most of the...

    SONY NW-ZX500

Not sure if ZX507 has the battery optimization setting or where battery charges only 90% on full charge. I did that setting from day one of purchase on A17 and battery is still good after six years of use. It might be beneficial for ZX507 too. I am sure we want it to last long.

    SONY NW-ZX500

Agreed on the weight, and bass is more profound in zx507 but bass might not be as quick/responsive as in WM1A. The organic sound of WM1A is at another level and it is less chaotic on high volume. I respect ZX507 for its sound profile, but battery is a nightmare and there is no excuse for that.

    SONY NW-ZX500

It comes down to personal preference. Glad, it is working out for you. Some prefer genuineness and clarity over the weight. If Sony were to put everything in ZX507, then who would buy WM1 series? Rubber back could have been easily replaced by better looking faux leather or leather for a player...

    SONY NW-ZX500

Thanks, I might get Sony MDR1am2 down the line to check out balanced sound. But I wonder if there is any cable where I can use balanced output from wm1a to aux or rca, not sure if it would make any sound difference.

    SONY NW-ZX500

For those deciding in between Sony WM1A and Sony ZX507, here is my take: I was considering Sony WM1A and ZX507 players to upgrade from my good old A17. I first bought ZX507 but returned it later due to poor battery (my A17 still can beat that battery in 2020), and then I bought WM1A and I was...
