To get the best treble out of my 595 senns I place them as far back as comfortable on my head. I also have the headband as low as comfortable. Then listen for the sweetspot, it's a big difference!

Could it be that your grados have too much treble? A lot of people are very sensitive to treble and it can be fatiguing. More so than too much bass I think. I love my Beyer DT880 '05 but the treble can be fatiguing sometimes, therefore not a keeper. Perhaps one would need at least three...

Perhaps consider the senn 595. It's a great phone!

I'd love to try the 2500. Some say they can't get used to how the 2500 deliver the sound to the ears, because it's so different from all other phones. Giving a 3d effect I've read. I wish my wallet was fat.

Interesting comparison. I think my favourite would be the K601, but I'd like to try them all. My new 880 is going soon (too bright), so I will look here for a 601 for sale.

Im just a little worried they will become warm and sweaty when wearing them for longer periods. The velour is really comfy.

The Sennheiser HD595 is a great choice if you go unamped. Can be found for about $150.

I have the new 880 with velour pads and find the bass response well balanced. Although it would be interesting to try them with leather pads to hear the difference.
