Elysian Annihilator 2023
You can also get the ConX connectors on HiFioGo and/or Aliexpress. Purchased mine from them for my Eros S, and didn't take long to arrive at all.- Neweymatt

Z1R is definitely still a champ when it comes to bass, particularly sub-bass extension laying the platform for a huge concert-hall like sound image. Z1R was the first TOTL I purchased early on, and it wowed me for a little over a year, until I worked out what my most important first-preferences...- Neweymatt

So many great points here that anyone new to the hobby would do well to consider when working out their own journey. I’ve been following this thread from the very beginning, and your writings on these points over the years has been a huge help for me to focus in on what matters most to me...- Neweymatt

We all do listen differently, and in different settings, so this will definitely be a YMMV kind of thing. I have probably 2 different modes of listening. One where I’m concentrating on something else, usually work, or when I’m reading. In these scenarios, I typically will choose music that...- Neweymatt

What Are You Listening To Right Now?
Not yet, thanks for the tip! Really enjoyed the Tame Impala collabs a couple months ago, this should be a treat. Maybe after I listen to this again… -

tbh, I hadn't really thought about "assessing" gear with the music per se, rather this is something I find quite enjoyable in it's own right. However, with this type of thing, I'd be listening for sub-bass extension depth along with quality and texture of bass. You can also get a good sense of...- Neweymatt

Firstly, I would separate "Psychedelic" from the others, as to me Psych is much more in line with Indie Rock, and is often made (intentionally) with much lower production value than the other Electronic genres. Otherwise, especially with EDM, House, Trance and the many, many other...- Neweymatt

Apologies, I didn't recall your earlier post, rather I was reacting more to this one.. ... where you seem to imply the stock cable and tips do not favour the IEM out of box, and go on to declaim the benefits of a $6k or $7k cable pairing. Truly and respectfully, if you're happy with what...- Neweymatt

Tidal Lossless Streaming
Appreciate the tip, and I'll try to give it a go, but I'd have to remember to do this once every 30 days, which is the challenge. Never had to do anything like that with AppleMusic, so I guess that's the standard I'm used to when it comes to this kind of thing. I get that a streaming service... -

At the risk of standing on the 3rd rail (again) that is the Trifecta conversation, having to pair a 6k or 7k cable with a 3k IEM to get acceptable sound from it doesn’t make a lot of financial sense to me. I get that in this hobby there’s plenty of folks with more dough than I’ve got for...- Neweymatt

The Official 64 Audio Thread | apex & tia Technologies
Very happy to give you guys some feedback, but damn you gotta be quick to get the merch. :) I guess I'm a Real Audiophile now, as I own 2 of them and have heard the rest at one time or another. But then it wouldn't be u12t? I reckon it's great just as it is, there's plenty of other...- Neweymatt

Show Off Your IEMs/Buds And Accessories!
Very nice, I do think Desktop gear -> IEMs is highly underappreciated in the hobby. I've had great success with most of mine with one or the other of Asgard3, Jot2, or Vali2+, especially those that scale well with more jooce like the Sony IER-Z1R, Elysian Annihilator. And even though the 64...- Neweymatt

I much preferred Anni’s warmer, livelier presentation to Rn6 more correct type of sound. Both are great IEMs, but Anni always grabbed my attention and left me wanting more with it’s combination midbass/lower midrange warmth, exceptional treble and mesmerising detail retrieval. I really don’t...- Neweymatt

Schiit Audio Bifrost 2
Yah, this. And don’t forget you can use SYS in both directions, like if you want to switch 2 DACs into one amp, or split one DAC out to 2 amps. It’s a very handy little device to have around, I’ve been surprised how much I use it testing out any new gear that comes across my desk.- Neweymatt

Schiit Audio Bifrost 2
You can control volume out to the Bifrost2/64 over USB just fine from either Windows or Mac. On the former I use the built-in Volume Mixer System setting: and on the latter I use the outstanding SoundSource app from RogueAmoeba. https://rogueamoeba.com/soundsource/ I'd try either of those...- Neweymatt

Tidal Lossless Streaming
Yes, for whatever reason the janky way Tidal seems to implement DRM enforcement means you have to periodically “refresh” downloaded albums, but oddly not playlists. It’s very annoying, but I’ve got so used to it now I don’t really notice anymore. But yeah, I do regularly revisit all the album... -

:100: I am extremely happy with the modest CCA Trio It's become the benchmark single-/all-DD for me, after hearing so many others at orders of magnitude higher price points that didn't work for me including Advar, Perpetua and Trifecta, each of which had spiky upper mids/treble in different...- Neweymatt
