Hugo TT 2 by Chord Electronics - The Official Thread
I keep hearing good things about the Ferrum stack, it being suitable for the fans of warmer, musical sound. It is not cheap though. The V281 is famous for its warm sound signature and does still show up on ebay every now and then. I'm leaning more and more towards the SPL Phonitor X, which is...- JanisR

SPL Phonitor X / Phonitor E impressions and Discussion thread
Sorry if this is the wrong thread for my question. I purchased a Chord Anni headphone amp to pair with my Qutest DAC. I am very happy with the sound quality of the Anni, which is quite detailed, very musical, and with a hint of warm. However, I am disappointed with the noisy fan, which...- JanisR

Do you know about the gs-x's sound signature? I like my sound a bit on the warm side. Before the Anni I had the Topping A90 and it was perfectly built, sounded smooth as silk but just a bit too neutral for my taste.- JanisR

It does have a fan, yes, and it is clearly audible when on stand-by. When the amp is on and being used, the fan, on my unit at least, becomes loud - it actually fills the room. I use it with my PC+Qobus as the source and the Anni is way louder even when idle than my PC (I have quiet build with...- JanisR

I tested Anni in a quiet room, where it was unboxed and plugged in for me, to warm it up. After a while I noticed a fan noise - not loud or annoying but certainly audible. And realised the noise comes from the Anni. Whilst testing it with headphones, even open-backs, it was a non-issue. My PC...- JanisR

I would not call those improvements significant, but that is because the base delivered by the A90 is quite powerful. I have never listened to the Monolith AAA 887, I would assume a similar sound signature for the THX and Topping devices but I would not assume the same power. Talking numbers...- JanisR

The Anni is very powerful. It's a shame the gain switch is inactive for headphones. For the Focal Radiance Bentley SE I kept the volume know at around 9 o'clock. For the HEDD, the knob was at 11 to 12 o'clock, whilst being plenty loud. If you like to fine-adjust your volume and have mostly...- JanisR

I got to listen to Anni today. I was shopping for a new pair of closed-backs but got all my headphones and my current headphone amp, the Topping A90 in my backpack just in case. I was the only shopper interested in headphones so I got all the time I wanted. I was surprised how noticeable the...- JanisR

HEDD Announces HEDDphone With AMT Technology
I got my HEDDs just a couple of days ago and still getting familiar with them. My setup looks like this: Qobuz on PC >> Chord Mojo >> Topping A90 >> HEDDs. I noticed what a difference it makes switching the A90 to high gain (the gain can be set to High, Medium and Low). Lower than High, the...- JanisR

Great to know the A90 and Arya has great synergy. I've already got the A90 and about to get Arya as soon as I can. Would you like to aim for an A90 + D90 stack with your Aryas?- JanisR

Not related to the Arya, but I'm really curious about your take on the M-Scaler. I remember listening to a TT2 paired with an M-Scaler in an audio show. A Dave was standing right next to them so I got to compare the two. In my opinion, the TT2 + M-Scaler sounded way better than the Dave - the...- JanisR

Topping D90
I recently bought an A90, which, I can safely say, exceeded my expectations. The assumption that the D90 is equally amazing as a DAC makes it a logical choice for me, but mid- to long-term, because my Chord Mojo actually works well as a DAC, when paired with the A90. My question to you - for...- JanisR

HIFIMAN Arya - Arya Stealth - Arya Organic :: Impressions Thread
The HEADPHONE Show's review of the Arya, Foral Clear and the LCD-X seems to be very much in line with this thread. The Arya and Clear almost sound like the opposites, completing each other. Do you reckon, they would make a good pair in one's headphone collection, strictly limited to two pairs...- JanisR

Chord Mojo(1) DAC-amp ☆★►FAQ in 3rd post!◄★☆
For some time now, I've been having problems with my Mojo: - It sometimes switches off by itself, which does not seem to be related to its workload - it can happen with my computer switched off and no USB signal (I know I should have switched the Mojo off when the computer is off); - Most times...- JanisR

I had joined this forum before ordering my own A90 and now, having listened to it for a week, I feel I owe you guys a write-up of my impressions. Arya vs HE-1000 V1: I am looking at an offer of a used HE-1000 V1 for £1300 but that is (about) the same as a brand new Arya. Having heard that the Arya is using the same ribbon and magnet as the V1, is there any reason, apart from the looks, to go for the V1 instead of an Arya?- JanisR

Topping A90
Mains conditioners - any of you guys tried those or planning to with your A90 or A90+D90? What I have in mind is the Tacima CS947 - probably the cheapest of them. Same question about ferrite ring cores - do you think the A90 puts us in the territory where it's worth considering those?- JanisR
