anyone compare the matix mini with other great DAC e.g. Audio GD Dac19mk3, Pico Dac, Buffalo Saber 32, Dac Magic ?

C2C is can drive the HD800 with ok quality which I personally do not think it is enough to enjoy HD800. The sound from C2C is quite warm but less in detail where HD800 can shine on. If you can stretch and go for Roc which accept balance source and drive the HD800 in balance mode.

I bought Audio GD Roc for my Hd800. It also accept balance input. The amp sound very detail, high mid and low are very clean neutral. Some people who prefer very warm sound like tube amp may not prefer this.

Roc from audio GD. $780 Phoenix $1200 They are really good solid state headamp. I listen to the ROC using Single end connector. I found the sound is very detail, sound stage is huge. the only down side is slight less warm (compare to tube) in mid range.

I would be better if you could let us know all the system component. We might be able to find the weak link and identify the problem more accurate.
