Great headphone amp with plenty of power, also working great as a preamp. The ability to program basically any infrared remote to control the volume is a nice feature. It is in great condition, the only thing preventing me from indicating 9/10 is a small scratch on the side/top of the chassis...- headphonesQC

Here is the reason for the "Good" condition: The pads would require a swap in the not too distant future and the adjustment mechanism lacks a part on one side. Right now it's been holding for a few years with a kink of putty (like Tac'N Stick) and I haven't encountered problems. Granted, if you...- headphonesQC

Schiit Ragnarok 2, amp only, for sale. There are some blemishes on the top of the amp (which I had to make a lot of effort to capture in the photos, in real life they aren't really apparent unless the light hits it at the right angle), but functionally, it is in excellent condition! Second...- headphonesQC

From the website : "The Silver Dragon Headphone Cable V3 is a silver conductor-based cable and uses 4 x 99.99998% UP-OCC Stranded Silver 24AWG...- headphonesQC

Sennheiser HD800S complement
Thanks for your suggestions! I won't sell the HD800S before having tried/owned another pair that I'm sure I like much more than these. LCD-4, Verite Closed, MDR-Z1R would be on my to-try list! The weight of the LCD-4 scares me a bit, but if I come across a good deal that would allow me to try...- headphonesQC

Sennheiser HD800S Unveiled!
It makes sense! It was well driven by the two amps, it's just the noise floor that didn't work. The impedance setting on modern amps would certainly help in that regard!- headphonesQC

Focal Arche: Anyone compared to other options in its price range?
I was wondering, does the Phonitor 2 dislike having a component on top of it or it works well?- headphonesQC

Sennheiser HD800S Unveiled!
I saw that you answered to the other gentleman, I just wanted to chime in to share my experience that 300 ohm might still be high. I guess I would have been better to answer him directly! Sorry about that!- headphonesQC

Sennheiser HD800S Unveiled!
It's true that it's "only" 300 ohm, but I found it to be problematic on the two tube amps I tried it with (Audio-Space AS-3i and Ray Samuels Audio "The Raptor"), the noise floor was simply too high...- headphonesQC

Sennheiser HD800S complement
I had the Focal Elear, but detail was lacking too much for my taste, even if the sound signature was pleasing. Grados don't work particularly well neither with these genres IMO. Otherwise I don't have much experience with other headphones except at shows...- headphonesQC

Sennheiser HD800S complement
Hi all! I recently acquired some Sennheiser HD800S and while they are nothing short of amazing to my ears on classical and jazz, they're not the most pleasing on bad recordings or metal/rock music... What would you consider as a nice alternative for when I want to listen to this type of music...- headphonesQC

SPL Phonitor X / Phonitor E impressions and Discussion thread
Thank you for the detailed answer! I bought Neutrik connectors and I'll soon build the adapter. Since I'm in Canada, the Moon Audio adapter was getting quite expensive with the exchange rate, the shipping and the customs fees...- headphonesQC

Sennheiser HD800S Unveiled!
Just to add my two cents, I recently bought the SPL Phonitor 2 and I find it to be a great match with the HD800S. I tried these headphones with an Audio-Space AS-3i and the Ray Samuels Audio "The Raptor" and both had noise floors way too high with the HD800S. And even sound quality on almost all...- headphonesQC

SPL Phonitor X / Phonitor E impressions and Discussion thread
I'm a recent owner of the Phonitor 2 and it's quite amazing with the HD800S! Now I'm just waiting to build my adapter to use the XLR outputs at the back with my headphones. Does anybody know if this output would equal the power of the balanced output on the other SPL Phonitor models?- headphonesQC

Female dual 3-pin XLR to female 4-pin XLR
Hi everyone! So I just bought an SPL Phonitor 2 and I have the option of using the balanced outputs at the back (male dual 3-pin XLR) to power my headphones (Sennheiser HD800S, male 4-pin XLR), with a supposedly improved sound from what I read. I therefore need a 4-pin XLR to dual 3-pin XLR...- headphonesQC

Best Headphones for low volume listening?
I personally have the Elear (so I guess quite close to the Elex) and I recently bought the Grado GS1000i specifically for low level listening (tinnitus showed up, so I'm now trying to get the best sound I can at low volumes). Comparing the two, I would say the Elear has better timbre and more...- headphonesQC
