The REGA P3/24 Project
Hey guys, I finally bought a real record player and now I'm looking for a good phono preamp to match it with. Right now I'm using TCC TC-750LC which is fine, but I don't got anything to compare it with. Problem is it only works with MM cartridges and now I'm looking for something that works with...- SemiAudiophile

Best budget bookshelf speakers?
I'm trying to figure out where my speakers stand among the rest. I ordered the WAF-1's so I voted for them. Which do you think (in your opinion) are the best overall speakers price vs. performance wise and explain why.- SemiAudiophile

Recommendation for budget bookshelf speaker system?
These are gonna be my first attempt at "real" speakers. I'll be using them as my main speakers for TV, movies, and music. I'm looking for something 2.1 that I could use and upgrade to 5.1 later down the road. So far I'm deciding between the Klipsch RB-51 II's paired with RPW-10 or Energy...- SemiAudiophile

Finally built my 1st headphone cable :)
So I finally built my first headphone cable using a 4-wire Mogami Mini Quad and Neutrik NYS228BG. I think it turned out alright. I haven't test it yet, but plan on using it to re-cable my K240's. Let me know what you think. The connector was the hardest part. Everything else was cake...- SemiAudiophile

quick question: building 4-wire headphone cable
I'm about to build my first headphone cable and have a quick question. If using a 4-wire, I want to connect one wire to the tip (left), one to the ring (right), and two to the sleeve (ground) right? and for a 3-wire, I could essentially do the same except connect only one to the sleeve...- SemiAudiophile

i'm kind of new to internet radio but tried out pandora and last.fm today. while listening i stumbled upon (well was actually trying to find) a plugin to use last.fm with Foobar2000. i found this and it works great. one of the pins fell off :(
i recently bought a pair of GE 5751 TMBP's off ebay and i noticed that one of them had bent pins, so i used a plier and straightened them out. however, when i was rolling that tube out today, one of the pins broke off! i haven't tried it yet, but i'm assuming it won't work with just 7 pins...- SemiAudiophile

question about watching movies on the computer
i moved my dac to my desktop so i've been using it to watch TV and movies now instead of just listening to music. while everything seems fine, i've been getting a problem with watching divx movies. some sound fine but some movies the voices sound way too soft and distant compared to the other...- SemiAudiophile

I want to know your inputs on a balanced HD650 and a balanced K701!!
i know the comparison has been made many times. there is no real winner and it comes down to preference. but i want to know what are your takes on them when they are balanced and how they might compare if you had the chance to listen to both of them. please also indicate what amps you heard them...- SemiAudiophile

DAC recommendation with balanced/unbalanced outputs
i'm thinking about going into the hybrid balanced/unbalanced route. but the only DAC i found that has the option to do this is the Benchmark DAC1. are there any other DACs out there that have this feature? i've also heard the DAC1 is a more analytical/cold sounding DAC, are there any more...- SemiAudiophile

SR325i/SR325is recabling
the SR325i's are an absolutely amazing phone and one of my favorites. it does acoustic so well and intimate that not even the RS1's can touch. not quite as refined but just good across all genre's of music. as you know the stock cable is quite flimsy and gets twisted a lot, so i'm thinking of...- SemiAudiophile

The Woo Audio 6 SE: My Impressions *updated*
i had the WA6SE for about a week now, so i thought it'd be time to give some impressions. i originally wanted to wait a bit til i received the MAD ear+ purist to do a comparison, however it did not arrive yet, so i will save that for later. to be honest, i was not initially "blown away" by...- SemiAudiophile

next tube amp: MAD Ear+ HD, WA6, or RSA Raptor?
i'm trying to decide between these 3 amps. the most important thing i'm looking for is versatility. one that can drive all grado/akg/senns well or have somewhat good synergy. the WA6 i'm looking to get the PDPS upgrade. don't know about any good upgrades for the other 2. budget is around $700...- SemiAudiophile

squeezebox vs. laptop w/ ASIO
does the squeezebox have bit perfect output at max volume at 100? i recently discovered how to get the ASIO working on foobar2000 (was getting cracks and distortion with winamp). with ASIO, it definitely sounds a lot smoother and less sharp than running direct stream. when i compare side to side...- SemiAudiophile

laptop vs CDP PROBLEM, nevermind problem solved :)
i use my HP laptop as my main source playing either FLAC/APE/MP3(vbr) and they sound great (warm and very detailed) and its running from my laptop using a optical-mini cable through SPDIF out->OMZ DAC->amp->headphones. and it's great. BUT...my problem is when i play a regular CD using my Marantz...- SemiAudiophile
