Takstar HF 580 Planar Headphones
Yeah I had same issue with 1060 pads being too big for rings, sometimes slipping off rings. The other 100mm pair with perforated sides I mentioned in my earlier post are smaller and fit better but because their hole is off centre (not apparent in the marketing pic) I push the pad backwards so...- Yupp

Ummm ... embarrassed and sorry to admit this but ... after a little more listening and pad swapping ... I think those perforated pads are good too and fit better as they are smaller. So both types I bought are good. Not sure why I found them muffled; the hole is off centre, perhaps I was...- Yupp

Got my pads off aliexpress (cp yang store) ... These first ones are less deep than the M1060s with perforated inner sides. They are terrible on the HF850: Bass increased but not in a good way; Muffled across the range, they make the cans sound like cheap garbage. Angled sheepskin Ear Pads...- Yupp

I'm uncomfortable with the exposed wires in your pic possibly snagging on something in my bag, and yes I prefer the look of a grill. I might sit and wait till the moment grabs me before attempting silver ring removal.- Yupp

Great. I would take off the grills if I knew I could reliably attach a replacement grill like my 4xx (don't want to leave the driver fully exposed). Still not sure if that plastic silver ring can be reused to hold the new grill in place though, especially if it gets broken.- Yupp

I would be very surprised if it didn't sound better. I might have a try later this week when I'm not busy... Zzz.- Yupp

No worries, I know that feeling too well. I'm also stingy which is why I'd rather someone else risk wrecking theirs first, hehe... Well at least someone who can better afford it.- Yupp

Nice... I assume you were also able to remove the grills and have a listen? Before I risk it, can you let us know if it makes an audible difference?- Yupp

Yes I agree! Surprised no one else is working on this. The grill material looks identical to the HE-4xx which modders largely agree improve significantly with the grills either removed or replaced with something with higher air/metal ratio. My HE-4xx sounded wrong till I replaced the grill...- Yupp
