    Hifiman Edition XS Launched

I'm telling you this is simply the best pair of headphones you can get for 500 to even 800$. Paired with a good DAC/Amp it's a very good choice. When it comes to soundstage, it's not so wide it sounds artificial but it's very wide. Very detailed. The comfort is a bit off (at least for me) but I...

Get LDAC on Windows with this driver here . Makes a HUGE difference in sq. It's not free - 5.99$ for 1 PC then 1.99$ for any other PC. It's worth it imo.

Would you say the sound quality is different from the K5 Pro ESS , so big a difference it is worth the upgrade?

These were also greatly recommended here and work great with the XM4 : AZLA SednaEarfit Crystal ; Also the JVC Spiral Dots were recommended though they are a little expensive.

This headphones are tuned so that LDAC doesn't make such a difference compared to AAC. But on other Bluetooth headphones LDAC make a HUGE difference.

I don't see the problem. Also have Spinfit CP360, also use the large size. I like the sound - these + EQ = Awesome sound. I agree - the stock tips are awful. The CP360 reduce about 20% the NC but it's ok 'cause they are very comfortable.

Best Smartphone for audiophile Part II (Updated: Jan 2020)

I must say though I mostly use wired IEMs the XM4 surprised me how good it is. LDAC sound quality then apply (either by way of wavelet or poweramp eq) this neutral eq (AutoEQ) and all is surprisingly good.

Best Smartphone for audiophile Part II (Updated: Jan 2020)

Have Xperia 5 II and tested (and returned very fast) the KA3. The sound from the Xperia is very accurate, detailed, neutral and great separation. However the depth is very much lacking but it's not a dedicated DAC. The KA3 sound fairs worse than that on the Xperia. A true upgrade sound quality...

USB-C to 3.5mm adapters (DAC) - Let's find the best

So the Rog Clavis sounds ok when playback is done by way of UAPP . The app for it (Asus Armory Crate) does not work so one has to rely on UAPP for adjusting the hardware volume and corect playback. Without it there is an obvious channel imbalance. The soundstage is not fairly wide but the...

USB-C to 3.5mm adapters (DAC) - Let's find the best

Anyone has or had any experience with the Asus Rog Clavius ? Seems to have the latest DAC - ESS 9281 QUAD DAC™ - as their latest earbuds. Ordered it today. It's about 110 Euro here, have the BTR5 (2021) for comparison.

Sorry to say this, maybe it's my opinion but the WH-1000 line is good for noise cancelation but sound quality wise - V V V can't get more V than Sony

Best Smartphone for audiophile Part II (Updated: Jan 2020)

I agree. Sony did a real good job headphone jack wise. Had an LG (G8S) and also sounded really good. Compared to the Sony it had my type of sound (typical ESS - with increased high notes) and lots and lots of power. Compared to the Sony it had 4-5 times the power. But the Bluetooth it's my...

Best Smartphone for audiophile Part II (Updated: Jan 2020)

Hello, I have the Sony Xperia 5 II and one of my brothers a Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra (yes, I know but he cares about how it looks (the screen) and I very much care about the sound). In any case I like the BTR5 2021 sound very much (considering my reluctance towards wireless) and on my Xperia 5...

Portable DAC and Amplifier Q3 MQA Edition Is Officially Released!

Why MQA when it's only a gimmick. True audiophiles know it's only a gimmick, then again you are not addressing true audiophiles but the general public. Edit: Typo

USB Audio Player PRO (UAPP): 24- and 32-bit playback, ubiquitous USB audio support for Android

I would be very dissatisfied if it's just a marketing gimmick but not surprised. Tidal has done this before (cough, cough MQA cough, cough)

Best Smartphone for audiophile Part II (Updated: Jan 2020)

Permit me to answer this question. I have an Xperia 5 II (same DAC as the 1 II ) and my brother has an S21 Ultra. Having tested both I can assure you mine sounds wider, more detailed and overall better. Samsung is good ant a lot of things but audio is not one of them. And I am very picky about...

USB Audio Player PRO (UAPP): 24- and 32-bit playback, ubiquitous USB audio support for Android

    1. Apple is not likely to let anyone use their interface. 2. Apple devices don't do any audio resampling like Android does, so for Apple to do anything for Android users is highly unlikely. 3. Apple is Apple - doesn't let anything get out of their control. Tested Apple lossless (my brother has...

But I understand what you mean. It's nothing really obvious. On my LG UAPP would make a big difference. Here, Sony has hardware audio decoding, not so much.
