Fyi, Bose ultra headphones and earbuds only support aptX adaptive which is an entirely different CODEC from other aptX CODECs. And unfortunately Qualcomm doesn't support backward compatibility.

Fyi, aptX adaptive is a specific CODEC; ie just because the source device supports AptX doesn't mean it supports all of its CODECs. Fwiw Btw how is the overall spectral performance compared to the ML's? You mentioned bass, but what about mids/highs/spatial?

@turbofeet yeah, I'm of the opinion that the electronics make more of a difference given the money spent. I was using silver plated LQI cabling with the Empyrean and got the Meze Furukawa silver plated cable with the Elite. So I may do additional tests to see if the LQI silver plated cable...

@Slim1970 yep, I really like the idea of the 27RE as removing any question that my chain is as good as it can be (for my musical enjoyment). Not that the R-28 hasn't been wonderful, but seeing the more isolated layout, improved DAC and regenerating circuit would "prove" as "perfect" as possible...

The Empyreans are so comfortable for me, that I often fall asleep with them on. They combine comfort as well as a natural, engrossing and relaxing presentation. Oh and they do all this, while also looking and feeling fantastic. Literally the whole package IMO. Unless I choose to try the Elite...

FWIW the cups will stay put. Never had a situation where the cup hanging off the back of the couch spun. That said, placing the Empyrean on the couch takes a bit more time compared to the traditional T-Type stand- especially given the cost of the Empyreans. I am OCD about how the Empyrean sits...

FWIW, maybe a lower noise floor, smoother. But honestly for $50 it was an affordable tweak that makes me "feel" better. :ksc75smile:
