I’m pretty sure they would sound the same. As far as I know, Svetlana was the only Russian factory that made the 6AS7.

That looks like a rebranded Svetlana to me. They sound pretty good IMO.

The Sylvania 7236 is one of my favorites in the "big dual triode" family, along with the Chatham 6AS7G. So far at least, I told myself to stop buying more of these tubes even before I found the Chathams, but you never know what suddely shows up at a good price :)

Somewhat related: the 42 pentode, equivalent to 6F6 and pretty close to 6V6.

Hahah! This thread was what sent me down the 6AS7 rabbit hole. I’ve got seven different tubes, and four of them are in pairs, so I really don’t need any more. But if something cheap and interesting comes up I’ll snag it :) I haven’t started collecting 6SN7s fortunately, or else I’d been bankrupt.

Got some Psvane 6SN7s for the front end. Expensive, but they sound very nice and look good. Output is a White cathode follower with RCA 6BX7GTs, the rest of the tubes are for the regulated power supply. Yeah, it gets dusty when it sits on the floor :)

Yeah, those are rebranded GE tubes, I’ve got a pair of them. I think I paid £36 for the pair from Watford Valves a year ago, and they still have GE 6080s for £12 a piece.

I’ve read good things about them, but I won’t be able to test them until I get home in a few days.

No website I'm afraid, it was a private seller. These were the only Chathams he had. He did have a lot of other cool stuff though, I'm hoping he can organize it and make a list of the tubes.

I got them locally here in Norway. They were around $80 for the pair which sounds pricey, but anything from the US would add shipping and tax so it’s not bad really.

They’re in great shape, never been used, and they both have the same production code 🙂 The only bummer is that I didn’t get the boxes, they had been water damaged.

Yeah, I understand the situation in SA is pretty bad right now, and probably makes shipping very difficult. I would gladly wait if I got some sign that they've actually read my order, but the total lack of communication in the 2 months before this situation doesn't inspire much confidence.
