Bowers and Wilkins PX8 Wireless Discussion

What Hi-Fi also think the XM4 and 5 have amazing sound where to me they sound like someone has put a pillow over my ears.

Yes but my point is that neither could be called flash.

I wouldn't call either of those flash - they're both pretty subtle and low-key

For flying I'd pick up a cheap pair of QC35's all day long. Wouldn't matter if they take a knock then, or even get left on a plane. I've seen mint used ones go here for £70.

Yeah I don’t hear metallic either. That makes me sound of a thin and crispy sound.

How is their opinion any less pseudo than yours?

    Clickbait at best.

I realise I’m an outlier here but I preferred the APM to PX8. I’m not sure if it’s an iPhone/Mac thing or an Audio Accommodations thing. Happily we all have many options depending on what we prefer.

    £100 extra for that? Nope.

Mine go back to B&W UK today. I actually preferred the sound of my AirPods Max but I am 53 and have the audio accommodation set up with those and that maybe made the difference between simple EQing. They sounded cleaner and more detailed to me. They’re also paid for a long time ago and I don’t...

Bowers and Wilkins PX8 Wireless Discussion

A question for those of you who have heard these and AirPods Max. I love the look of these but I'm unsure whether it's a sideways move for my use-case. They're always used in the house (I'm a photographer so when I'm not out shooting I'm at my desk or wandering around the house). I listen via...

Excellent post. Going out on a limb I’d be very surprised if Apple hadn’t aimed their tuning and profile at what they know the majority prefer. To do otherwise would be, well, dense.

    Weird flex but ok.

No. It’s a mystery to me why Apple don’t support the health app on the iPad.

I’d also add that any supposed lack of EQ on the APM can be more than countered by using something like the Mini app and applying the profile to Audio Accomodations

    Hard, hard disagree.

Yes I know, I have a pair. But unless you're literally using a hook with a sharp end that's touching the the mesh and mesh alone I can't see how it's going to be an issue.

Do you mean the hook doesn’t touch the bands at all and instead only the actual fabric support them?

I haven’t had to adjust the headband once since getting the right fit. I’m using this stand for them which spreads out nicely along the length of the headband. I’ve found the overnight battery drain so insignificant that it’s not worth worrying about. The stand doesn’t put any pressure on the...

Anyway. Perhaps we can get back to taking about the APM’s on an APM thread.

I got some this week and can’t say I’ve noticed a difference. They don’t block any mics. I don’t need them for most use as they live in my office, but they’re nice to have for any travel (I’m a photographer so travel a lot when we’re not in a pandemic) and were only £10.

I'd take a wager on the APM's outselling H95's by at least 10:1 this year. At least.
