If you haven't already done so, you could check to see if your XM5 have the latest software installed. This is shown on the System tab in the app.

I no longer have the XM4 for comparison, but for me the chief advantages of the XM5 are the significantly superior sound quality and smaller size. There are plenty of professional reviews that compare the two models. Here is a link to the CNET review.

I normally do use noise canceling most of the time, except when biking. I mainly bike on my neighborhood streets and bike trails, and they are not very noisy. And biking is safer if I can hear approaching cars.

I can use my Susvara with my Auris Euterpe tube amp, or my solid state Burson Soloist GT. I usually choose the GT for its much greater power, transparency & detail. I've also had good results driving the Susvara with my Burson Soloist 3X, or my Burson Conductor 3X.
