How is the bass (subbass and midbass) quantity and quality of the MR (using the best stock pads for bass, idk which one though) compared to the 1266 TC? Also, what about the soundstage? As much as I love the TC, I need something portable given my situation.

I had this too. Either static or one channel cutout when not at the step. Of course, everything was back to normal once the knob is at the desired step. So it seemed like that's its normal behavior? But I think the issue was less prevalent with the 'knob break-in' if that makes any sense.

When I had it, it was the second best I had heard (w/ WA33 being the first). It has very good bass control, soundstage, and imaging. Now, I like my newly acquired TT2 better, but I think the 1b still has about 10-15% better bass quantity (based on my memory). Pinch of salt advised on my opinion...
