    Beyerdynamic DT 1990 PRO - Beyer's open-back mastering headphone

Both EQs are designed to bring the 1990s + balanced pads into agreement with the 2018 over-ear Harman frequency response target. The Harman target in turn was designed to match the personal preference of the hypothetical average person. But any individual person will differ from the majority...

https://www.rtings.com/headphones/reviews does the T1 and the 1990. They also show a comparison between the A and B pads in a YouTube video but it's compensated using their in-house target curve. Here's a screen grab:

    Beyerdynamic DT 1990 PRO - Beyer's open-back mastering headphone

Thanks for translating the electro-tech talk -- sailed right over my head when I read that bit on the Loki page. Can't help you with the transparency question. Of course, another approach is to use a physical filter like the ones Dan Clark supplies with his Aeon headphones to knock out the 8...

    Beyerdynamic DT 1990 PRO - Beyer's open-back mastering headphone

The Loki question seems to have two parts. A) does it degrade the 1990’s sound and B) will it make the appropriate adjustments to its tuning? I can’t answer A, but B seems pretty straightforward. Here is a raw frequency response graph for the 1990s (Oratory1990) with the analytical pads on...

    Beyerdynamic DT 1990 PRO - Beyer's open-back mastering headphone

(I'm a long-time lurker and 7 month DT 1990 owner. Read the whole thread back before buying.) Neither I nor anyone else who's listened to my DT 1990 has been bothered by the treble spike. But that's just a matter of luck. My theory is that it's at least partly a function of a person's ear canal...

Is there an official definition of the target curves?

Precise values for the various permutations of the Harman target can be found here: https://github.com/jaakkopasanen/AutoEq/tree/master/compensation These data are part of Jaakko Pasanen's AutoEQ project. The were made by using some software tool to "parse" available graphs. (Read the...

    New Member Introductions thread

Long-time lurker. Not sure if it's still obligatory to post a who-am-I here before posting anywhere else but may as well. Over-the-hill Canadian male, started on the serious-amateur classical guitar journey half-a-lifetime ago. Burned out on that. Now listen to boring acoustic music instead of...
