Yes, it is true. I would suggest both, for the zst i would make flip tips.

To me to solve the fit problems (losing seal even with flip tips, foam tips), needed some old kz cable with formable memorywire (stock with zs3,zs3e.zs5,ed16) which can lift the iem a little bit. I hope this helps someone else too :)
