Perhaps its their way of ensuring funds to keep the Stax Electrostatics going and developing .... or its just cashing in on the name ??

I can add that i have a Dac1 HDR that i use as a Head Amp.. Dac and Pre .. in various home set ups and its terrific ..i got it 2nd hand a few years ago from a recording studio where they'd had it from new ...only reason it was available was that the owners of the studio were retiring and selling...

Looks fabulous ... by any chance does it have a split volume control like the Stax Amps ? as my right ear needs a higher volume to match my left

i'd just live with the imbalance and use the centering volume knob to deal with it but keep the repair guy's details in case in years to come it becomes a big problem i thought my 300LEs were imbalanced a bit but after asking others if they heard the same with negative results and a hearing...

Can i ask what are the 'blocks' you have on top of the amp an dac ?

My girlfriend tells me the Nighthawks are the best ever hps on her ears , normally she can't wear hps for more than about an hour at a time but thanks to the terrific pad and lightness of clamp the NHws get 2hrs and sometimes 3 with barely a whisper made about her ears

A great read this thread so thought it worth posting about my listening today to The speed and clarity of the Stax enables me to fully hear all the very fast and intricate playing in a way that my floorstanders don't quite give ...its hard to explain but the electrostats help kind of separate...

I have the 353 and a pair of SR-X Mk3s Mjolnir modded to PB and they are driven well, i did ask him about the amp and he was gracious to say it would do a good job and it does, although of course one of his amps a Carbon perhaps would let me really hear how good they were, for now i'm more than...

Welcome aboard, i had a similar relevation when i first heard Stax Earspeakers and after a while i took the plunge and got the L300LE with 353XBK and haven't looked back for serious listening :)

Ouch ... that shouldn't be happenng ... i'd try Stax themselves in japan first send the pic and maybe just maybe they send you a free replacement or you ask if you could have a their metal headband as a replacement ... worth an email i'd say

You might think that plastic isn't strong, but i can say that i have some Koss K7s which were a birthday present to me in the 1970s and they are still in use by myself in 2021

Thanks for the repy ..i've found the thread and are avidly reading from the beginning as i'm keen to see what others think before the LEs and then after they came out EDM .... electronic dance music ?

Thanks for the reply ...its good to know that the 353X is considered a great amp .. comforting for me .. on the SRX Mk3 question ...i'd have to agree that it's a smidge more detailed ...i know that Birgir tuned mine to be slightly darker than they would otherwise of been which suits me really...
