That's strange that the newer firmwares increase the accuracy requirements because I never experienced the problem on the newer firmwares, only on the tda firmwares, at least switching inputs is an easy work around.

I use this https://www.audiophonics.fr/en/network-audio-players-raspdac/raspdigi-lte-lvds-v2-streamer-i2s-lvds-hdmi-allo-kali-reclocker-audio-gd-compatible-p-13064.html?search_query=audio-gd%20ra&fast_search=fs Which is a raspberry pi with a kali reclocker attached, the kali relocker reclocks...

Yes, but it disappears once I swap the inputs back and forth, now I do it after I turn it on before I even start playing anything.

You guys inspired me to try the older tda firmware again, and I have to admit there is something about tda_syn that just gels on my system, it may not have quite as much detail as the async and newer firmwares but it has an analog type quality that just makes you want to tap your foot to the...

I guess you just have to keep an eye on the firmware page, I don't know about cumulative updates, I'm no expert on firmwares.

Sometimes I used to get static noise on my R8 via i2s from a raspberry pi, and like you it would go away after switching inputs, this was with both tda firmwares, but I've yet to experience it after switching to the paralell_dop firmware, if you haven't already maybe try playing around with the...

I've got a 2TB ssd attached to a rpi 3b, both the pi and the ssd are powered by the allo shanti linear power supply, I have picoreplayer running on the pi and the pi's i2s signal goes to a kali reclocker which then gets sent to my R8 running Parallel_DOP, I prefer NOS, it just sounds more...

I agree, that Amir guy simply doesn't know what he's talking about, he seems to think if a particular piece of audio gear measures better it will sound better, but how does he know if it will sound better if he never listens to it? and what does "sound better" even mean to him? it must mean...

Or you could buy one of these https://www.audiophonics.fr/en/network-audio-players-raspdac/raspdigi-lte-lvds-v2-streamer-i2s-lvds-hdmi-allo-kali-reclocker-audio-gd-compatible-p-13064.html I've got one and it sounds great, its relatively cheap, and you can bypass your DDC because it has an i2s...

I'm using it on tda_syn on my R8 and I really like it, after going from USB to this https://www.audiophonics.fr/en/network-audio-players-raspdac/raspdigi-lte-lvds-v2-streamer-i2s-lvds-hdmi-allo-kali-reclocker-audio-gd-compatible-p-13064.html I tried all the other firmwares again to see if they...

I don't see why you couldn't as long as the USB ports and Ethernet port are in the same place, you would probably need a micro USB to USB-C adapter for the power input, and a micro HDMI to HDMI adapter if you want to connect a display, I don't think it would be of any use for me though as I play...

I've already got the raspdigi and I really like it, its only about $250 US, and you don't need a USB to i2s converter because its i2s the whole way, and on top of that its a media server and player too, I'm currently listening to internet radio on it right now, two thumbs up from me...

So I was thinking about the i2s input on the R8 and weighing up if it was worth spending the money on a U16 or SU6 without hearing them first, the SU6 would end up costing over $1000 NZ dollars landed, the U16 would be about half the price but there seemed to be a lot of reports of firmware...

I've always wondered what advantage a music server would have over a PC setup, for example I have a lower end intel N4200 passively cooled 11.6" display laptop with an internal SSD feeding my R8 via USB, attached to the laptop is a 2TB external SSD which has all my music on it, if I wish I can...

I've got a Khozmo passive preamp in my system https://khozmo.com/ I e-mailed him and gave him the specs of my system and he custom made one for me, I got a 10k relay based ladder with remote and 64 steps of adjustment, but there are many different options, before I brought the R8 I used to run...

Ok, that's me out of the DSD game then, seeing as most of my music is some form of pop, rock, hard rock, metal, sounds like PCM is better suited for kind of music anyway.

    New Audio-gd R-7, R-7HE R-8, R-27, R-27HE, R-28 Flagship Resistor Ladder DACs and DAC/amps

That's interesting, seeing as I recently changed the firmware on the R8 and changed from hqplayer to MPD I thought I would compare some dsf songs from dire straits first album to the same songs converted to wav, and I thought PCM sounded better, it definitely had more dynamics, apart from that...

    New Audio-gd R-7, R-7HE R-8, R-27, R-27HE, R-28 Flagship Resistor Ladder DACs and DAC/amps

So out of curiosity I thought I would see how MPD compared to hqplayer, to my surprise it was more dynamic, but it didn't sound quite as polished with the R8 in NOS, so I tried OS 8x and that brought some polish back, then I tried PLL just for kicks, and it actually sounded really good, even...

I assume you don't need to swap the wires if your using USB? is the sound signature closer to the previous accurate firmware as opposed to the smooth firmware?

So I thought I'd give tda_Asy a longer listen on the R8 because tda_Syn was just a tad too laid back, I even experimented with different filters on hqplayer to see I could find that sweet spot, I thought I had something that sounded pretty good but after a while I felt like something was missing...
