Empire Ears - Discussion & Impressions (Formerly EarWerkz)
Personally for me, Raven is a complete upgrade on Odyssey. The mids on the Odyssey were too recessed for me and it was like all excitement was sucked out. Raven has better treble extension and I will say noticeably higher quality bass as well. I too did not hear the sense of space Raven gave...- hshock76

Empire Ears - Discussion & Impressions (Formerly EarWerkz)
Had another go on the Raven on the last day of the show. Fortunately this morning was less busy due to the heavy morning rain in HK so I had more time with it under more relaxing conditions. This time round, I changed to the CP155 tips (which I used on my Odin previously) instead of a set of...- hshock76

Empire Ears - Discussion & Impressions (Formerly EarWerkz)
I had a short session on the Gold version which should sound the same as the black one. Great technicalities and I can hear the BCD working to give a Holographic 3D sound field which from my memory improves upon the Evo. Great treble and again def improved from Odin. However, I’ll see...- hshock76

Subtonic STORM: Impressions and Discussion
Nah your hearing is fine. Storm no longer sounds dry from DMP after more play time. It's a mighty impressive pairing.- hshock76

Subtonic STORM: Impressions and Discussion
The first thing that struck me is the amount of resolution Storm gives. There is a high degree of clarity for each note without any harshness/brightness and it is pretty incredible how Subtonic managed to achieve this level of balance. Technicalities like separation, layering, imaging are beyond...- hshock76

Subtonic STORM: Impressions and Discussion
I auditioned STORM twice. The first time at Canjam Singapore which was a less than ideal environment for any serious auditions and not surprisingly, I went away unimpressed. The second time was at a cafe. I was much more impressed vs the first attempt and liked it enough to place an order the...- hshock76

Subtonic STORM: Impressions and Discussion
In Subtonic's own words, "STORM, short for Subtonic Opus Reference Monitor, is designed with a simple goal in mind: to recreate a studio main monitor experience in an in-ear monitor." From my understanding, a true reference monitor does not boost any frequencies and gives you a very accurate...- hshock76

Subtonic STORM: Impressions and Discussion
Hmm to put it in simple terms, Storm sounds leaner, less musical & smooth and flatter; not as dynamic vs my other sources; LP6 Ti AE, 1Z M2 & SP3K SS. Would like to highlight that this is strictly vs the other sources and not in absolute terms. Storm still sounds mighty good from the DMP with...- hshock76

Subtonic STORM: Impressions and Discussion
I auditioned the Ragnar a couple of times and always found it on the bright side of things. Overall signature is pretty lean and bass does not go as deep as I envisioned. Storm is more balanced and is probably the most accurate sounding IEM I have heard. Timbre & tonality is spot on and hands...- hshock76

Subtonic STORM: Impressions and Discussion
I personally find Storm sounding a tad dry out of the DMP. I really like it through the SP3K SS and it sounds glorious when driven from my SAEQ amp which I use to drive my RAAL SR-1B at home but is also able to drive all types of headphones https://saeq-audio.com/amplifier-hsa-1c- hshock76

Shanling M9 Plus - Flagship Android player
I am currently burning in the SP3K (CU & SS) and the M9+. I should be able to post some updates early next week. Out of box, the M9+ was indeed very warm and thick. However, after 10-15hrs of burn-in, it has opened up quite a fair bit and is now less thick. At this point, I will not say that...- hshock76
