newbie question: open vs. closed
I just came back from Scientific Plastics in Manhattan (on 30th between 7th and 8th). I demo'ed the ER-6 and ER-4P with my Ipod. I definitely was NOT blown away. They were very detailed and the isolation was great, but they are undoubtedly not what I am looking for. The ER-6 in particular has...- ktp

newbie question: open vs. closed
So it sounds like the A900's are far too cumbersome to be lugging around on the street. Are the Beyer 250-80's easier to handle? I think what I really enjoy most about the HD580 are the airiness, soundstage, and bass presence. Can any of the closed phones recommended in this thread come...- ktp

newbie question: open vs. closed
Nanahachi, thanks for the tips. I checked out B&H this weekend, but it was so packed and noisy in there I had trouble discerning between different cans. With that much background noise, I couldn't even appreciate the HD-580's I loved so much. What do you guys think of the A900's? Most on...- ktp

newbie question: open vs. closed
Thanks for all your input--I'll definitely look into the phones you guys recommended. It's a shame I don't know of any places that let you demo a large selection of headphones before purchasing--it's frustrating to have to drop such a huge wad of cash with only other people's subjective...- ktp

newbie question: open vs. closed
Over the weekend, I was blessed (or cursed) with the opportunity to experience the Senn. HD-580's. They sound really incredible. After removing them from my head and wiping a tear from my eye, I wondered if there were any closed cans that can come close to the HD-580's. I anticipate doing...- ktp

Driving the Sony MDR-EX71SL's & First Impressions
I've owned the EX71 for about three weeks, and I've noticed the same thing. I need to crank up the volume significantly to get the same output I'm able to get from stock Ipod earphones. Otherwise, though, they sound fairly good. I'm a newbie to the scene, but here are my impressions anyway...- ktp

Sony EX70 vs. Sony EX71
I just received my EX71's. They're not bad, but I can't compare them to the 70's, as I've never listened to them. The 71's isolate just fine for me, but the short cord is too short by itself. Adding the extension makes it quite long, but then there's extra weight at the connection point, and...- ktp

Sony EX70 silver mod
I'm about to receive my EX-71's any day now. Can someone tell me if the mod is applicable for the 71 as well as the 70? Also, (I'm a complete newbie here, my apologies in advance) where exactly do you find the foam that you should use? Are you just referring to the detachable foam covering...- ktp
