Well, OK, not upper mids but lower treble. They say 5-6 kHz area is too bright. Jaytiss even EQ them with -4 dBs... But, wow, I had the U12t, and with the MX is definitely not my thing. Too plain, almost no bass. I better forget about it 😅- firesign

Although the graph is really good, reading the reviews it looks like shouty as hell (upper mids I mean)... 😅- firesign

XBass or PEQ really helps with NP bass. It is a shame that the switch doesn't do the same.- firesign

For me NP switch on doesn't fix the low end, it affects too much to low mids (until 600 Hz).- firesign

Yes, many songs I listen are like that (I only listen metal). For example: Amon Amarth - First Kill An Abstract Illusion - I'm the heavens above... Megadeth - Holy Wars... For me, Aurora has thick low mids. And everybody says Ascension has thicker low mids than Aurora... The important thing to...- firesign

Every person with Ascension that knows my taste in sound has said that Ascension won't be my thing. I don't like thick low mids, and Ascension has thick low mids. That is a instant "not for me". But I would like to try it, like the Aetha. And I have decided not to blindly buy anything else.- firesign

No, it doesn't. It sounds really well. I like it more than without the EQ.- firesign

Yes, I do EQ the subbass on NP. I don't have the Aurora, I sold it long time ago.- firesign

IEM for metal music and hard rock - ultimate solution
It is a compromise. A rich lower midrange helps with male vocals but then complex and fast music sounds bloated.- firesign

I am not surprised. The NP is a jewel, one among many, and unfortunately I also think unique among all AuR models. If Abel or anyone else got an NP (switch off) with a more powerful subbass, without modifying anything else about the sound of the original model (switch off), they would...- firesign

AÜR AUDIO IEMs
Sorry, but for me, Aurora has muddiness in the sound. I have to reduce the low mids in 2 dBs to avoid that muddiness that makes the sound a bit bloated and slow. I am talking about myself. You can hear different, of course. And I am not saying Aurora sounds bad... I am only speaking about the...- firesign

NP is more energetic, and has much better technicalities than Aurora. Aurora mid bass is a bit soft, low midrange is too organic/warm/bloated for me, it sounds like a bit muddy because of that And its treble is too relaxed, I need a bit more energy there, and more details.- firesign

Just because of that, if they are different flavor altogether, I can like one of them and not like the other. It can be said than Aurora is a smother NP too, it is warmer, with DD bass and less treble. But I love the NP and I don't like the Aurora... I am not saying the Aurora is bad, only I...- firesign

I think the same as you about the NP switch on. I like it with the switch off. But I am surprised about your opinion about Ascension. Most people who knows I like the NP has said to me that Ascension is not for me. I am looking for a NP with a good DD for bass, but everyone with both IEMs has...- firesign

I have had the Solaris, and it is one of the most boring IEMs I ever had. Good technically, yes, but just boring. The U12t is a bit better, but boring too. This is a subjective hobby/passion. What is good for one, is bad for another. We must stop searching a relationship between money and enjoyment.- firesign

Many times I think that we are masochists and we like to be charged more for things... For a brand that still exists that doesn't inflate prices senselessly, and here are people encouraging them to do so... 🤦🏻♂️- firesign

Is EQing IEMs a fool's errand?
The title of the thread is not helpful either... My approach is the same that with headphones: - if a hear frequency that I don't like, I try to EQ it up or down playing with the bandwidth (or Q). - if I have the IEM frequency response graph, I can use it to try to get my favorite graph...- firesign
