Looking for comfortable over the ear IEMS
Hi all, I'm looking for a pair of comfortable over the ear IEMs to complement my barrel-style IEMs . Prefer a warm or neutral (with boosted bass) sound signature. Sensitive to intense upper mids. Don't particularly need something with amazing technicalities, but want a pair with a good...- dairy

Turntable to Balanced Amp
That would work, as long as you're okay that the run from the cartridge to the phono preamp will be an unbalanced signal. Planars are great. If you have the budget, opt for the Planar 3. You can adjust the anti-skate, it has a great tonearm, and also opens the potential for upgrades if you wish...- dairy

Turntable to Balanced Amp
What kind of turntable are you looking to buy? Most turntables, regardless of whether they come with a built in phono stage or not, do not come with a balanced output. The few turntables that do have a balanced output (e.g. Thorens TD1601) and phono preamps with balanced inputs and outputs (e.g...- dairy

If you still love Etymotic ER4, this is the thread for you...
I have the same issue with my ears. Have tried various IEMs with larger shapes, but have found the barrel type IEM to be the best fit. For a different type of sound but with a similar style design, try the Final E series IEMs. I have the E5000s and have found them to be a great complement to my...- dairy

looking to connect my late 2012 iMac to Topping D50S via USB rather than mini Toslink to Toslink
If you have a printer cable available at home, I would suggest using that first and to see if you're happy with it. You could always get a better cable later if you're not satisfied.- dairy

looking to connect my late 2012 iMac to Topping D50S via USB rather than mini Toslink to Toslink
The USB ports on your Mac are not just "input" ports. As with most USB interfaces, they allow data transfer both ways. You'll need a USB Type-A male to USB Type-B male cable to connect the USB port on the back of your Mac to the USB port on the DAC- dairy

If you still love Etymotic ER4, this is the thread for you...
Personally, I went with the 4XRs and glad that I did. I don't think I would enjoy an IEM with any less bass than the 4XRs, but that really depends on your own personal preferences. I also have the E5000 and enjoy how warm they are, but compared to the E5000, both the ER4XR and SR would sound...- dairy

Yes, both the barrell itself and the nozzle where the tip is placed are smaller than the E5000s. The nozzle, in particular, is significantly thinner and longer than the E5000 nozzle.- dairy

WARNING: Fake Campfire Andromedas, Vegas and Solaris (Updated in 2022)
I had a pair of Vegas which I've now sold and I rarely changed cables, so I can't confirm what my MMCX connectors looked like. But is it certain that the presence of a plastic surround around the MMCX connector is a sure sign of a counterfeit Vega/Lyra II? I'm asking since there are a few online...- dairy

Searching For A Cable: MMCX/3-button Remote
Sounds like the cable that come with the Campfire Comet would fit your requirements exactly. Not sure if Campfire sells the cable separately, but might be worth emailing them.- dairy

DAP / DAC Dilemma
I have a M6 and am relatively satisfied with it. Like you, I like the convenience of using Spotify. I considered pretty much all of the options you listed, and for many of the reasons you listed, eventually settled on the M6. One of the weaknesses of the M6 is that the interface is a bit laggy...- dairy

Final Audio Design Impressions and Discussion Thread
Thanks a lot for the input. I have a pair of E5000s and was looking for another pair to complement them (something more balanced with a wider soundstage and airier presentation than my ER4XRs), but it looks like I should probably look elsewhere.- dairy

Would you still recommend someone getting the Heaven V now? There's a pair on sale locally in good condition, and I'm curious about them, but am not sure how they compare to more contemporary IEMs. Also a bit wary of the nonremovable cable in case it ends up failing.- dairy

Low end. Cheap. Generic. Otherwise bang for buck cable thread!
I actually already have this cable but don't have the equipment to measure it. I'm currently using them with my Final E5000s after the original cable broke and am wondering if it'll make much of a difference if I upgrade the cable, especially as it's a dynamic driver.- dairy

Official Hong Kong Thread (Shops, Meets, Events and more-)
I think DMA in Sim City is probably the largest store I've been to. Some earphones (Sony, Campfire, Shure), are open for anyone to try without asking their staff, but they have a wide variety of other gear that is available for demo on request. How's your Chinese? There's a website that is...- dairy

Final Audio Design Impressions and Discussion Thread
Good to see another Hong Konger here! The Andromedas are fantastic for those looking for more resolution, detail, great separation and imaging, a holographic soundstage, lots of air in the treble, and a more neutral sound signature without being too clinical. I really enjoyed acoustic songs on...- dairy

Final Audio Design Impressions and Discussion Thread
I've been really enjoying my E5000s and have found them to be pretty much ideal in terms of sound signature. I found myself reaching for them more often than any of my other IEMs, to the point where I have sold my Andromedas, Vegas, Comets, and other IEMs. I am wondering if there are other...- dairy

Sensitive IEM Hiss recommendations, ALO audio RX , IFI IEMatch, IFI Nano idsd BL
I would suggest getting an IEMatch (perhaps from a place with a good return policy) and see if you're happy with the results. There are mixed reports on whether IEMatch does in fact affect how IEMs sound. I have a IEMatch for my Andromedas, which comes in handy when I want to use them with my...- dairy

Best sub 50$ IEM for a 12yo girl? (Chi-Fi is fine)
The Final Audio E1000/2000 would work and would be guaranteed to fit well (unlke the Kinera SIF). T2s can be difficult to fit and was quite uncomfortable in my experience.- dairy
