HQPlayer Impressions and Settings Rolling Thread
The big step you are hearing might be the 512+ modulator. Might be interesting to try it on DSD256. In my experience the 512+ modulators sound excellent at 256 rate.- Hensema

Successor to the Singxer SDA-6 DAC
Very tempting to upgrade from a Singxer SDA-2. I really like the easy and a bit warm sound of the SDA-2, and de SDA-6 Pro2 seems to be the same sound signature but better.- Hensema

Holo Audio May DAC Speculation
The Holo May has good quality electrolytics like Panasonic FC And Rubycon. These sound clean and many like them. But has anybody tried to replace them with something like Elna Silmic 2 of Panasonic Muse FG to tune the sound to their liking?- Hensema

Holo Audio Spring R2R DAC
You could try PCM with IIR2 oversampling with normal tpdf 24 bit dither, no noiseshaping. This gives me the densest sound.- Hensema

Holo Audio Spring R2R DAC
Look for Tubulus Argentus, it’s far better than Mogami Neglex. I Just tried it on my Holo May. Tubulus Argentus is solid core silver. But beware, silver is not bright as some might think. It has tonal richness while the micro details are stil there. Stranded Silvered copper is on the other hand...- Hensema

Holo Audio Red Streamer
From the manual: “DIP switch [4] sets I2S_MCLK frequency, ON is 45.1584M/49.152M, OFF is 22.5792M/24.576M”. Has anybody tried both settings on de Spring 3 or May? Which master clock is recommended?- Hensema

Denafrips 'Pontus' R2R ladder DAC - close up view
I did a short comparison between my Denafrips Pontus (NOS) and the Chord Dave last weekend. I preferred the Pontus. Better tone and more natural sounding. I’m totally convinced now that R2R is the way to go.- Hensema

DENAFRIPS Terminator: the King of R2R dac
Poly Sinc Short or MinringFIR should not take much processing power. You could try them without dithering or noise shaping. You could also try another bit depth, for example 16 bit.- Hensema

LG V30
I placed a scope on the output of my V30, and to my surprise there was pre-ringing visible in case the Short filter is selected. This is not how it should be when you look at the pulse example that is shown when selected this filter. I disabled and enabled the “Hifi Quad DAC” and then the...- Hensema

DENAFRIPS Terminator: the King of R2R dac
Upsampling by HQplayer to 1.5khz has my interest as well. This is an important reason why I’m interested in a Venus or a Terminator. Please keep us updated on this. You can try Poly Sinc MQA MP for a warm and natural sound, and Closed Form M for a detailed NOS like sound.- Hensema

New Audio-gd DAC-19 [10th Anniversary Edition]
Thanks for sharing your experience with the Denafrips Ares. I was expecting that the Ares would be an upgrade because of all the positive reviews and it’s a newer dac. The Pontus might be an upgrade then. Anyone compared the Dac 19 with de Pontus?- Hensema
