New cable soldered in, I wasn't expecting such a change in presentation from this thicker lower capacitance cable! Left-right stereo balance was better, gained significant quantity in bass, flattened the midrange and as expected some more zing in the HF. Detail seemed to have improved also...- anh165

Help with headphone advice HD600 vs other headphones
RE bass extension. You have to find the right material/music to be sure the phones are capable of projecting those lower notes. Try a bass test track or frequency sweep video on youtube. My RX700's sounded leaner than stock after modifications, and just out of concern I run a bass track test...- anh165

The caveat I gather from the above anecdote is that both your amps were driving a very small load (headphones) so the differences would be very little between 'well designed' amplifiers. Thanks! Apart from the slight HF roll off, it sounds almost like a different headphone with the modifications, would like to A/B compare it to a stock RX700 just to get an appreciation of how much so.- anh165

My headphones are a modified RX300 and a modified RX700. ( Will upload pics later) I tried a pair of AKG K92s, which I was very disappointed with. Articulate but very very thin sounding so I sent them back. Next I tried the RX700 based on the positive comments over the years, fresh out the box...- anh165
