The OG s12 has no dampers or anything and has the 1st gen planar driver. The S12 pro has a foam in the bore, no damper, and the 2nd gen driver. If you remove the foam from the s12 Pro it will not be the same as the OG due to tuning differences AND the 2nd gen driver.

s12 pro grills are FAR more coarse than S12 og grills. On the other hand S12 pro has a foam insert where the OG does not. The foam can collect ear moisture whereas the grill on the OG can collect ear cheese.

I tune known 'crazy staging' iems. I can say I do it with a ton of mids, dips remove the mojo. A lot of it is the tuning and a lot is the quality of drivers.. but that directly influeces the tuning. I would almost say you can measure stage with the ratio of 400-900hz compared with ear gain...
