    ETHER 2: Impressions and Discussion

It could be their measuring equipment I suppose. After digging around, someone had some bass rolloff with the suede pads too until he ran the test again. Turns out the seal on his first run wasn't perfect. go figure.

Congrats again Dan! Question though: that review found some bass rolloff when using the suede pads in the pad comparison graph. is that consistent with your/other's findings?

    ETHER 2: Impressions and Discussion

If its just for basic stuff like gaming, I use the sony clip-on mic so I don't have to worry about how it fits with my headphones. My voice (but also ambient noise) is very clear to people I play with. really good for the price imo...

    ETHER 2: Impressions and Discussion

looks like Joshua Valour just got his hands on these, if anyone is interested in what he has to say. Josh seems to gravitate more towards more "colored" or "punchy" headphones though.

No, but I did pick up a stock XLR cable (was using single ended). There's not a notable difference in sound but the extra current is welcome. /shrug

    ETHER 2: Impressions and Discussion

Initial impressions of the suede pads are VERY positive for me. Replacing them scared the poo out of me but actually wasn't that bad. Definitely a modest increase in perceived soundstage. And they just remove all of the rough edges from the sound, not that there were many to begin with. But, I...

Just out of curiosity, what are your current headphones that sound good enough but are also comfortable for you?

    ETHER 2: Impressions and Discussion

I pulled the trigger on some suede pads. Will throw my $0.02 into the bucket after they get in and I test them out. I'm optimistic they will add just a bit of softness/warmth that I find myself craving using the Ether 2 with Topping D50/THX AAA 789.

    ETHER 2: Impressions and Discussion

I am feeling the same way. They just have the exact amount of everything I want from my personal audio. They are just so transparent but without any rough edges, and do everything as well as I could hope for. I'm just here for the gushing and circlejerking.

    ETHER 2: Impressions and Discussion

has anyone been able to get their hands on the suede pads yet to provide firsthand impressions on: 1. how easy they are to install 2. how they affect comfort 3. how they affect the sound?

    ETHER 2: Impressions and Discussion

Personally, I don't think the Ether 2 is too dark at all. Treble seems very present. So, I would be interested in the slightly warmer sound and softer fit that the suede pads offer. But, my DIY/fine motor skills are crap, and I have zero confidence in myself to replace the pads correctly. I'm...

    ETHER 2: Impressions and Discussion

I've been doing all of these things and having a good experience. That said, I have a more medium-sized head and can't speak for everyone. On a side note: DUDE. I have tried lots of headphones in my life and the Ether 2 is by far the best. You guys really nailed the tonality. Everything is in...

    ETHER 2: Impressions and Discussion

I made a post several pages back in this thread about the clamp force. The way I was able to greatly reduce it was to let the cups hang lower on my head than I might normally. It felt a bit weird at first, but the seal was still perfect and the sound was not affected at all. Did wonders for the...

    ETHER 2: Impressions and Discussion

Yeah his review is long and meandering and doesn't actually say very much. BUT his conclusion was that they are "amazing." However, I completely disagree with his claim that they need to be run in balanced. I am running them in single ended just fine. Unless you are running something like a...

    ETHER 2: Impressions and Discussion

Something I did that worked wonders for comfort was to loosen the headband a bit more than I might normally and let the cups sit lower on my head than normal. On my head at least, the seal stayed perfect, the FR did not change, but the clamp force was much reduced with just a bit more slack from...

    ETHER 2: Impressions and Discussion

Your impressions are spot on. I got my Ether 2's a couple of months ago and was initially not blown away by them after coming from my more "fun" D8000. Nothing about the sound stands out. But after spending several weeks with them, you notice that everything you play on them just sounds...

Why did you take so many pictures of your headphones hanging in a tree??
