Review by 'lllandline' on item 'xDuoo Link2 Bal'
Definitely not a universal device. Pair it only with the harshest, most bass-deficient IEMs. Design is good, low noise is good, physical gain switch is good. But I still can't listen to it for more than 15 minutes. It's just the awful pillowy bass texture and treble that sounds like nothing...- lllandline

Review by 'lllandline' on item 'Kiwi Ears Cadenza'
I've seen people talking about them having insufficient treble, but I can't confirm that, treble rolls off only after 15kHz, which is a nice result. $30 is an adequate price for Cadenza, nothing groundbreaking. If you've heard one decent $30 set, you've heard them all, I guess.- lllandline

Review by 'lllandline' on item 'TRUTHEAR Hola'
Burn in, tip rolling, source rolling (iBasso DC03 Pro, e1da 9038d, xDuoo Link2 BAL) didn't help with eliminating sibilance. Two cotton heads from cotton swabs, each cut in two, with thicker part being placed inside the nozzle worked. That trick always works with peaks and overall bad treble...- lllandline

Review by 'lllandline' on item 'Sony XBA-Z5 Ultimate Hi-Res In Ear Headphone'
I am strongly advising against buying them if you do not intend to mod them. They do not sound that great and there are lots of $20-$50 IEMs that sound much better. If you want unique Sony sound, buy EX1000 or EX800ST. I have fixed them by opening them up and covering the dynamic driver's port...- lllandline

For $100 you can buy much more universal iBasso DC03 Pro and a good $20-$30 IEM. Though I have to say, 9038D has the best upper treble.- lllandline

That means you never tried N3 in usb DAC mode or as a bluetooth receiver. I also use super slow, others are too harsh. Everything is relative and relative to mono of course soundstage is there, but it's nothing compared to something that will make your jaw drop a bit.- lllandline

HiFi Boy OS V3 is an IEM with just a good quality stock cable. I'm not even sure that I hear any difference with a stock ZS7 one, it's just the way it looks. Oh, and also placebo, even when fully acknowleged, still plays its role. I really like MDR EX800ST more when I use my fat 4-core copper...- lllandline

Knowledge Zenith (KZ) impressions thread
It's just stock cable from OS V3, like with any BA set, your source is what will make them shine. Tried them with apple dongle on iphone and soundstage shrinked to maybe 50cm, still out of the head with songs that mixed certain way, but generally this spaciousness is gone. Also, insertion depth...- lllandline

ZS7 has absolutely the biggest IEM soundstage I've ever heard. It is out-of-the-head. Also, if you will turn on some phase-inversion dsp's or virtualizers you will be blown away by holographical soundstage. You feel like you can grab instruments and sounds. Using Cayin N3 as a bluetooth receiver...- lllandline

It is glued to the nozzle, so you just pull it with a hook, try using bended paper clip. Nozzle itself on the inner side is just a straight tube.- lllandline

Review: Sony MDR-7550
EX1000's chinese replicas probably sold through taobao, they are REALLY cheap there, something like 100-150$ last time I checked. As for MDR7550 - I don't know, but if you want them for less money - search for MDR EX800ST on eBay/Amazon. Also, consider the fact that it is less probable that...- lllandline

Review: Sony MDR-7550
I think that they sound like an endgame now, considering the fact that all engame IEMs has their flaws (and haters). EX1000 was rated S by crinacle even though they have an even bigger upper mids spike, which makes me think that TOTL IEMs aren't that magical and out-of-this-world, and what...- lllandline

Review: Sony MDR-7550
It makes treble better. Not in the way of making it louder, it just extends further. Mid peak sounds considerably weaker. I can't say I'm treble sensitive or a treblehead, I like when things sound more or less real, and low-res feeling treble cut-off provided by dampers made me really...- lllandline

Review: Sony MDR-7550
This mod is irreversible, foam will be torn and twisted (I used small metal wire bended to create a hook small enough to get into their nozzles) and pulled out. Foam is glued to the nozzles, but only at the top. Due to 5-6kHz (that's what graphs show and reducing that frequencies in parametric...- lllandline

Review: Sony MDR-7550
I've just torn out the dampers (foam inside them, which I thought was just a thin filter) and oh god why this things were used in the first place. EX800ST's sound so much better, treble has more texture and has better extension, overall their muffled sound is fixed. This dampers are big...- lllandline

They said high sensitivity, but probably meant their low impedance. That way output impedance of source plays a big role. Said that they pair really good with iBasso DX150.- lllandline

AUDIOSENSE in-ear monitors Impressions Thread
There is one review on Russian audio forum, quick summary: 1) Treble sounds detailed, but tiny: hats and drums sound weak, as if drummer hit them with not enough force. Overall, high frequencies are clean. 2) Mids are good, not as sharp as BA usually makes them sound, though they sound a bit...- lllandline

For their price they are treble-cripples, basically nothing happens (or it's just the thd is so bad) in the upper treble, which, for the price of 200$ (and even more so for 350$ retail) is absolutely not ok. It just ruins everything. Everything else is great about them, but it's like not having...- lllandline

AUDIOSENSE in-ear monitors Impressions Thread
I have a few questions, because I intend to buy my last IEM until I'll get to another salary bracket, so: 1) Do they sound muddy? I mean, do they sound like bass is actually overpowering the mids so much that it ruins the soundstage? What about the mid-bass and low-mids? DM6's were a disaster...- lllandline
